This may have come up before in discussion so my apologies if it old stuff. Interesting point that the District Overseer seemed to make a distinction between the Governing Body and the Faithful and Discreet Slave class. When I was growing up it was always the same thing. The governing body was made up of the faithful and discreet slave class. I am wondering if this maybe new light do to the fact that there is ones on the Governing Body that are not part of the remnant. This could be the WT way out of the fact that those ones are all dying off so they have to be replaced with those of the Great Crowd. Anyone have any information or thoughts on this point?

The FDS class is claimed to be the entire body of "anointed ones" on the earth at any given time. The GB is supposed to be the head of this class, and is claimed to take into account input from all of the "anointed". In practice, though, very few "anointed" outside the Bethel homes have any input at all to GB decisions. So in practice, the GB is the FDS.

This question (and answer) will be covered in this months written review. Basically, the FDS is all the annointed as a group while individually, they make up the domestics. The entire group feed themselves as individuals. It was not until 1919 did Jesus give them authority over 'all his possessions' (the other sheep). It is a pity that 'all his possessions' were not identified untill the mid '30's. Go figure!!

Probably to most JWs they equate to the same thing.

Just getting funny here. How about, "Is the GB and the FEDS the same thing?"

William Penwell stated that "do to the fact that there is ones on the Governing Body that are not part of the remnant."

Sorry, that is not so. All GM members are part of the remnant. The GB is a "remnant thing". There are assistants, given ones, directors etc. who are not, but in order to get into the GB, you've got to be one of the remnant.

Actually it's a pity that this group teaches anybody....anything! It's a pity that they have made two folds which the bible doesn't teach. It's a pity the dubs exist.

wasnt the 'other fold' spoken about by Jesus, the gentiles, and the first fold the israelites?

if that's so, i cant see how the WTS can twist that into creating 2 classes of christians. and what did paul say about class distinctions?

So the question Jesus posed--``Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?" is apt today as well. The official line is that it's a composite of all the anointed on earth at any one time, but in actual practice, if any of the professing anointing in the hinterlands naively sends in ``suggestions" on modifications to doctrine or policy to Brooklyn, they'll be told --politely at first, and more bluntly on successive tries-- to ``butt out" and confine their efforts to the field service.

So who will be the FDS once the anointed die out???
