Joel...it's to bad you never got to really know your Grandma!..She sounds strange but fun! I find the best rule is..follow your heart!
Plus you never know how the witnesses are going to act!..I didn't think they would give my JW hubby a witness memorial because he wasn't active. He would occasionally go..but not regular. His family are devoted witnesses though!(At different congregations).
The "Brothers" wouldn't come to see him when he was sick ..had to beg...but they allowed us to have a witness memorial for him. They loved the opportunity to witness to the worldly people that came! Which they did!..Pointed out to everyone the "If a loved one dies" booklet in the back .
They even asked if they could visit me later..I said "Sure"..I'm going to tell them how terrible it was the way they neglected my hubby. He was inactive but very loyal!.. He had plans of going back when he retired but got sick!....They kept giving excuses why they didn't visit...I guess I should tell them to tell that to their "Jehovah God"...Huh.......
Snoozy....
At least hubby got what he wanted!...Except he wanted his ashes spread at the KH...I won't do that...not yet anyway..It could be a parking lot someday! .He can wait for me... then we can be spread together somewhere nice....
