Will JWs throw you under the bus if you have a transfusion?

"If a person accepts a blood transfusion, the Jehovah’s Witness elders are required to “investigate” to see if the person is sorry for “cowardly” saving their life. If the person doesnt beg and grovel to the elders for allowing the doctor to save their life (or that of their child) then the elders can take this as a sign that he/she has disassociated from the congregation - and tell the congregation to start shunning them.

If someone willingly takes blood, perhaps because of being under extreme pressure, the committee should obtain the facts and determine the individual’s attitude. If he is repentant, the committee would provide spiritual assistance in the spirit of Galatians 6:1 and Jude 22, 23. Since he is spiritually weak, he would not qualify for special privileges for a period of time, and it may be necessary to remove certain basic privileges.

Depending on the circumstances, the committee may also need to arrange for an announcement to the congregation: “The elders have handled a matter having to do with [name of person]. You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance.”

On the other hand, if the elders on the committee determine that he is unrepentant, they should announce his disassociation.

    - Shepherd The Flock Of God (Elders Secret Manual) - p. 111, 112.

What’s not mentioned here, but as all Jehovah’s Witnesses know, is that it’s the elders who decide if you’re sorry and even if you are, the elders decide if you’re sorry enough. You’re literally at their mercy.

Eventually I see all issues being a matter of “disassociation” vs disfellowshipping. The policy of DF/shunning is becoming a big problem in many places even resulting in the loss of WTS/JW’s status as a “religion” and loss of State funding.

More and more often they are not getting away with saying one thing in a public statement but doing the opposite behind the scenes. Even the lawyers are learning their tricks and exposing them.

"on the other hand.....is unrepentant....announce his disassociation" . What a word play...they disfellowship and say the person disassociated. There is a big difference between being kicked out and leaving on your own. As to being thrown under the bus...Yes, you can count on being thrown under the bus for even things you haven't done let along what you have.

Paul Blizard, exJW who appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, told how he and his wife decided to let their 6 year old daughter have a blood transfusion, were immediately shunned by the congregation, and they also shunned the 6 year old, who later died. Can’t you just feel the love?

On the other hand is unrepentant. Some bodies of elders my deem ''unrepentant'' as not trying hard enough in the congregations....not reaching-out enough and they may merit df'ing on grounds of lack of ''spirituality''.

WTC has tried to relax the repercussions of accepting a BT for legal reasons. They also know that most JWs do not understand the blood policy and it's complexity/contradictions. They would like to drop it altogether but doing so would open a floodgate of lawsuits from JWs who were affected adversely by the policy. For all those who have lost family members, do some research to determine whether or not the policy is scriptural. It should be an eye-opener.

If you are of the "anointed" then you are just judged as immature, but no disfellowshipping. The anointed in this case received a blood transfusion "voluntarily"!

For the last few years, most Hospitals (in California at least) severely restricted visitors...even direct family due to COVID. Unless someone really liked to flap their gums, how would the Elders even know who takes blood? Any JW who tattles on a blood recipient if they are a medical employee faces very serious government penalties and is open to civil lawsuits due to HIPAA violations. A minimum fine of 60k with maximum fines over a million can result. Does the Hospital Liason committee even exist after COVID?

Balaamsass2 Evidently the Hospital Liaison still exists because a few months back I saw where the members have to be vxxed ( GB Loves pushing the kill shot )

Of course, there are LOTS of JWs who work in insurance or at hospitals or medical offices transcribing medical records, and coding for insurance billing, so I imagine even a discrete JW could be outed.

Years ago a few sisters who worked for Stanford Medical routinely & secretly informed Elders about any JWs who took blood, had abortions, had STDs, smoked, and single sisters on birth control, etc, etc. The "Guilty" never met their accusers or had any idea how the elders found out.
