They read it again, or take 2, added travel trailers to the list and full bath instead of private. This time I was awake. LDC accomidations for maintainers.

Well maintained halls but they are not ours like in the old days when locals did it with local flairs

For Chelmsford they had a lot of mobile homes donated by a rich family. It wasn’t clear if they were on loan or gifted, the family kind of wanted them back after. The GB said no we will sell them instead. True story

3rdgen - I remember the “Rooming Work” well! It seems nuts now, but we sure did it, and people open their houses!!!😬

We stayed also in rooms through the Rooming Department when I was a kid. Both in Vancouver Canada and SF.

Could you just imagine the Apostle Paul's letters including demands like that!

It's their shtick -- begging, free labor and poor mouthing thus assets equalling 7 sweet billion later. Not half bad for a group of lazy misfits learning real estate.

They need all the trade-trained construction workers they can brainwash.

    NotFormer,

My experience was during Knoor's time. 15yo me thought Jehovah "opened up their hearts" to allow strangers into their home. Unfortunately, I saw the whole thing as proof Jehovah was blessing our work. Hubby said to me, The householders probably thought you girls were asking for yourselves. LOL

    Dagney,

We only stayed at a private home once. It was for the NYC 1958 convention. My dad had an important assignment where we needed our accommodations for 3 weeks. The rooming people must have had a Star by his name or something because we were given a lovely suite in a gorgeous house.

We barely ever saw the owners. We left early and came home very late. No time to witness even if they had wanted to. Knowing my dad he probably gave them a large "tip" and The "Paradise" book that was released at that CONvention.

Once upon a time the pope came and tv asked for accomodations-almost all teens. City opened up big time. I think I would just as soon have catholic kids over JW hillbillies.

Back when dad n mom had 3 extra families with kids (they were old friends/family) for a convention; one bathroom, camp cots in the yard. I think grandma (not witness) 3 blocks away took some cousins so that made 2 bathrooms
