Opaque!
Sometimes I see a shaded screen
And you appear behind
Playing in the darkness
Toying with my mind.
Reminding me, the memoirs, of the fears I fought at night.
Opaque! You knew how to block the passages of light.
And landed on my knees
You took those whom I loved the most
And made them sting like bees.
A statistic just to play with
You counted money while I counted time
Opaque! I took the bait and your hook
Tore out my mind.
The fight for sanity
Your web of lies locked around my mind secured with doomsday keys.
Caught in your tower of darkness, snared by your claims of liberty
Opaque! I was blinded by your carnal society.
So you tried to snatch my breath
Stood before 3 mortals and they sentenced me to death.
Questioned in your dungeons
Finding light considered crime!
Opaque! You'll reap your wages but no longer by my time.
I am no longer just your echo, or a wheel in your machine.
No longer can you bind me, to your locks I've found the key
Opaque! The truth has set me free from your transient destiny
(wierd huh)

Gee THANKS , to be frank I find that reflection quite depressing! LOL. I wrote it while still trying to cope and holding my head from leaving the Watchtower. Highly symbolic words and could only be understood by a former JW. I'm a lot less depressing (thats arguable I guess) when i write these days, it just captured the state of mind I was in at the time of leaving.

Brummie, an excellent piece of poetry.
Opaque: what a great description of where we once were in our blind state.

Best line:
Caught in your tower of darkness, snared by your claims of liberty
Stirred up images of a lonely castle spire silhoutted in the night.
Cool poem Brumm. Wish I could write poetry, but it's just too hard.
Thanks for sharing.
