Finally did the sensible thing and Googled it. I still don't see how this makes that bloke a Bible expert.

From one of the 2 videos in this talk, what is a ceramics engineer?
Posh name for potter?
I knew a JW window cleaner, he used to describe himself as a Fenestration Technician.

SPECIAL usually means boring or just alot of crap in Jwism. ~ you got
For sure the "Special Talk" is never really special!
"For sure the "Special Talk" is never really special!"
Didn't they used to have a "public meeting" or "public talk" which was anything but? 🤔
Is this the 'special' talk?
Is there anything 'special' about it that has not been regurgitated ad infinitum in jw land for eons of time already??
Like the Special Bus that picks up the Special Kids at school. Not that I'm picking on anyone for their disability. I have my share and my own poor brother. He is still riding the Watchtower Special Bus.
Ron W, yeah that’s it. Super special..🙄
When the Borg made every talk a manuscript talk, they really sucked the life out of any halfway decent speaker. That’s the price of conformity and controlling the content of their brand.
How much of a zombie do you need to be in order to sit through that crap, or enjoy reading a script, or actually believing you gave a speech after regurgitating it.

The 'Special' talk before the Memorial is usually pretty bland and generic. The gist was "Where can truth be found?...in the Bible...In the teachings of Jesus...for further information contact Jehovah's Witnesses...". Its 'Special' because (they hope) due to the invitation campaign there will be a lot of visitors.
Another thing, at least here since the post-Covid return to the Kingdom Halls is that every few months an announcement is made that a congregation is having a " Special Bethel Speaker' for the weekend to which other congregations are invited. We had one of these just after going back. A young brother said to be an assistant to the Legal Department. He seemed a bit "full of himself" .He said proudly he'd been allowed to choose his own topic. I'm not sure if that means he was really free to say anything or just given his choice of outlines. I don't even remember his theme, but during it he really hammered down on returning to attending meetings, at one point saying "....In-person MEANS In- person...What's there not to understand?!!". He seemed a bit more human giving the Sunday talk the next day.
We share a hall, and our fellow congregation hosted one of these, the speaker being Robert Hendriks, once head of the U.S. Watchtower Public Information Dept. (Does that still even exist ?). Shortly after this rumors began to surface that he'd been disfellow...I mean " removed" but I've been unable to verify that.
Here is a "special talk" by an unimportant despised shunned woman not wearing a head covering prior to the Memorial...
God loves you. It doesn't matter if you "partake" of crackers and wine or not. Jesus' ransom already purchased you. He already adopted you as one of his kids. He has taken Adam's place as your first human dad. You're going to be alright.
I know this world sucks right now, but it will get better, and you're going to be okay. You are loved. Please don't be afraid.
Help is on the way.
May you have peace, even during the present calamity.
Even if you die, He can bring you back. You are beloved. Whatever predicament you're in, or dark place you've fallen into, it's not too dark for Him to bring you back from.
You are beloved.
Love, your little sister
