    1. Unnatural Extraction Process: Unlike coconut or olive oil, which can be extracted through pressing, seed oils like canola, soybean, and corn oil require unnatural methods for extraction. They undergo processes involving high heat and chemical solvents like petroleum, leading to oxidation and the formation of trans fats even before they reach your kitchen.

    2. A Modern Dietary Addition: Industrial seed oils are a recent addition to our diet, exploding in consumption from virtually zero in the early 1900s to 70 lbs per year per person today. This dramatic increase corresponds with a surge in chronic health issues, suggesting a link between seed oil consumption and modern diseases.

    3. Omega-6 and Inflammation: Vegetable oils are high in Omega-6 fatty acids, especially linoleic acid, which is a precursor to pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. These molecules can cause chronic inflammation and contribute to autoimmune diseases. The excessive consumption of Omega-6, without the balance of Omega-3, exacerbates these health issues.

    4. Oxidative Stress and Cancer: Studies have shown that diets high in vegetable oils, particularly linoleic acid, lead to oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and genetic damage. These factors are instrumental in promoting cancer, with some studies revealing a fourfold increase in metastasis in diets high in these oils.

    5. Increased Mortality Rate: Over a seven-year study, groups consuming high amounts of vegetable oil had a 62% greater all-cause mortality rate compared to those with lower consumption. This risk increase is more significant than that associated with heavy smoking or obesity.

    6. Heart Disease Risk: The Minnesota Coronary Experiment found that participants who increased their intake of corn oil and margarine had an 86% higher incidence of heart attacks. Despite lower cholesterol levels, the vegetable oil group had a significantly higher mortality rate from heart attacks.

    7. Cardiovascular Deaths: The MARGARIN Study revealed that the group consuming margarine high in linoleic acid from vegetable oils had a 700% higher rate of strokes, heart attacks, and cardiovascular deaths compared to a group consuming Omega-3-rich fish oil. This stark difference underscores the health risks of high vegetable oil consumption. Remember, the key to a healthier life is understanding what you're putting into your body. Rethink your oil choices and opt for natural, minimally processed fats.

Just because margarine isn’t plastic 🙄, it doesn’t mean that the types of fat in margarine are necessarily good for you. Hydrogenated vegetable oils contain trans fats, which are associated with health problems. They are found in many processed foods, not just margarine. Not all margarine products contain hydrogenated oils.

Problems with seed oils generally relate to heating them beyond their smoke point causing changes to the chemical composition (no, still not plastic), as well as overconsumption (which often goes along with overconsumption of unhealthy foods generally).

These days, I only use olive and avocado oils (monounsaturated) and beef dripping or butter. I used to deep fry everything in a deep fryer in which the vegetable oil sat for weeks before it was changed. I would also drink two litres of full-sugar coke*. I was very cavalier about my diet. One heart attack and a double bypass later I've totally changed my attitude towards diet. These days I try to eat somewhere in the low-carb/keto/carnivore spectrum. I believe that my health is improving, but just as it took decades of bad eating to get to the point of heart disease, it may take decades to undo. And as a sexagenarian**, I don't have a lot of decades left, while the old age clock is ticking.

*I suppose it's a small blessing that Coke is made from actual sugar (sucrose) here, and not high-fructose corn syrup, but the result was the same.

** For a laugh, watch the Beverly Hillbillies episode "The Clampetts in London". I call it "Granny versus the Sexagenarians".

If the GB have not done an official U turn then the old light still stands. So JWs should still replace butter with margarine and consume all these harmful seed oils heated to very high temperatures?

after all would Jehovah really allow the GB and all the helpers to take these vaccines if they were harmful?

no David Slain he doesn’t want you to take them but you know that now. Oh I forgot you don’t apologise when you tell people to take something that is harmful and tell them Jehovah’s direction is clear that these vaccines are safe for humans

    Teddnzo:

Then they even say to heat the seed oils to very high temperatures. This advice is so very harmful.

”Cook the food until it is very hot. ”

Did they though? Or are you just selectively quoting the source to push a narrative? The actual statement from the source says:

Cook food until it is very hot. Food, including the innermost portions of meat, must reach 70 degrees Celsius (160°F) for at least 30 seconds.

The smoke point of all of the common refined cooking oils is well above those temperatures. They vary, but generally over 200°C (392°F). And they weren't even specifically talking about heating seed oils.

    Teddnzo:

I just can’t believe They really did say that egg yolk is harmful

    No. They said:

    Another way to decrease cholesterol in your diet is to reduce your consumption of egg yolks to one or two per week;
If someone has high cholesterol and wants to lower it, that's one thing they can do. If someone is not concerned about high cholesterol, they might choose to eat more egg yolks and other tasty things.

What is more interesting about the Awake! article from 1997 is that it presents recommendations from the World Health Organisation during the period that the Watch Tower Society was registered as an NGO in association with the UN. One of the requirements of that status was to support and disseminate information related to UN objectives.

They clearly did encourage heating the oils to very high temps which is what is really harmful for seed oils. If you don’t heat them then some seed oils are not too harmful like good raw olive oil.

they clearly did insinuate that egg yolks are bad for you. If the gov bod even hint at something being bad for you then the fully indoctrinated will not touch it with a barge pole.

yes they clearly are copying what their overlords at the UN tell them to push. They say avoid fatty meat and egg yolks replace butter with margarine and vegetable oils.

i say do the exact opposite. Avoid all seed oils if possible especially those heated up. Never ever consume margarine that the GB push. Use real butter and if possible raw milk.

Make fatty meat and hole eggs a large percentage of your diet, you will then find you don’t need to eat that much at all because they are so nutritious.

Because who cares about what the article actually said when you can just claim they said other stuff. 🤷‍♂️

Yes let’s stick to what it says. You are trying to claim it doesn’t say what it actually does say.

why are you trying to cover for the GB? Do you think it’s good advice to replace butter with margarine?

do you think it’s correct all those things they say?

Huh? You're still on about this? The article, which was to promote WHO information as part of their obligation as an NGO associated with the UN in the 1990s, provided some diet advice from the WHO that seed oils might be preferable and that reducing egg yolk consumption can reduce cholesterol levels. Elements of the 'food pyramid' popularised in the 1990s have since been discredited by newer research, but they didn't know that at the time. Beyond that, you and the other conspiracy nutters are making things up.

why are you trying to cover for the GB?

Huh? If you imagine that, you're delusional. The dietary information wasn't 'made up by the governing body', the article just provided dietary advice of the time as provided by separate organisations.

Do you think it’s good advice to replace butter with margarine?

Margarine isn't plastic and it's not a government conspiracy. Eating unprocessed foods in moderation is generally better than excessive consumption, especially processed foods. I don't particularly care whether people prefer to eat butter or margarine, or their other dietary choices they make for themselves. Some people have health conditions that make their dietary decisions more important for them, for various reasons. I have no control or responsibility over them. I'll eat whatever I like, and you can feel free to do the same.

do you think it’s correct all those things they say?

"all those things they say" is pretty open ended. Are you still talking about the diet articles (which provided recommendations from the World Health Organisation), or is this some slippery slope into a tedious black-and-white thinking fallacy? (You don't need to answer that, I don't care.)

Let’s be clear, the direction to replace butter with margarine is very dangerous. It’s also very dangerous direction from Jehovah to consume seed oils heated to high temperatures.

Do the opposite to that direction for healthy dietary habits. Replace margarine with butter. Eat whole eggs and fatty meat avoid seed oils heated to high temperature and practice intermittent fasting.

You can eat less all round if you eat nutritious foods instead of processed nutrient deficient foods which leave you still hungry
