If there were only one God, why do we encounter the expression, "Most High God"?
Is this not indicative of polytheism, and of levels (or degrees) of god-ness?

We also have sanctimonious sycophants being creeps to their chosen deity.
Well, I guess that if he lives on the Pleiades star, he is "most high"
(any new ones here may need to research this old WT teaching)
Stucky - I will lend a helping hand....(Proof positive that Jehovahâ„¢ lives on the planet Alcyon)
"The face of the deep, of course, would be toward the Pleiades, which are claimed to be the habitation of Jehovah." (Creation; 1927; 2,175,000 ed.; p. 94)
"The constellation of the seven stars forming the Pleiades appears to be the crowning center around which the known systems of the planets revolve even as our sun's planets obey the sun and travel in their respective orbits. It has been suggested, and with much weight, that one of the stars of that group is the dwelling-place of Jehovah and the place of the highest heavens;..." (Reconciliation; 1928; p. 14)
"The constellation of the Pleiades is a small one compared with others which scientific instruments disclose to the wondering eyes of man. But the greatness in size of other stars or planets is small when compared with the Pleiades in importance, because the Pleiades is the place of the eternal throne of God." (Reconciliation; 1928; p. 14)
Would you or anyone you know willingly, knowingly worship any god they know doesn't exist?
No, right?
Neither would the Israelite on the old days.
(At times) They worshipped multiple gods, and they believed all of them to be real, or they wouldn't have worshipped them.
Which means the Bible shows us that the Israelites didn't really see a difference in the actual existence between Jhwh and other gods. They were all equally real to them. They allegedly had plenty of evidence of JHWH being real, and that evidence was apparently no better than the evidence they had for other gods being real.
In the Bible false god doesn't mean not existing god as we are now taught. It means not our preferred god Jhwh.
The Israelites were polytheistic, and then chose to worship only one of those gods.
If we can entertain the thought that Jesus is the sun.
"The Christian religion and Masonry have one and the same common origin: Both are derived from the worship of the Sun. The difference between their origin is, that the Christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun." --Thomas Paine, Age of Reason
It can explain why all of those titles can apply to the sun.....
When it arrives in the morning it is our RISEN saviour,at midday it is at it's "most high" as it rides into "Jerusalem" at the summer solstice and at night it "dies" and heads into the underworld......being born again as a helpless baby at the winter solstice/midnight....born in the midst of its enemies as the darkness still surrounds it at Christmas time.
When Christians go out at Easter to welcome the sun at their sunrise service....they aren't welcoming a literal Jesus.....they are welcoming the sun back at the spring equinox...in the sign of Aries they are welcoming Jesus/the sun back....he is the lamb of God (sun in Aries) that takes away the sin (darkness, desolation of winter) of the world...and as the sun passes through the month of Aries (burning away the lamb),the days are getting longer and warmer, plants start to grow, the dead rise, fecundity and happiness have returned to the earth.....the light of the world has returned once more.
All hail our risen saviour! ....the sun.
The sun at the summer solstice in the sign of Cancer/tropic of Cancer also answers a prophesy that is still being debated by Christians to this day.
Why did Jesus ride into Jerusalem on two donkeys and not one? (Zechariah 9:9)
In the constellation of Cancer there are two donkeys....Asellus Australis and Asellus borealis...the northern and southern donkeys.
So when the sun hits its height it is sitting on two donkeys.
This fits with the definition of monolatry, whose believers accept the notion of one superior or supreme god presiding within a pantheon of many, lesser gods. There's evidence that the Israelites were initially monolatrist before evolving toward monotheism.
It's like how airlines add extra layers to make people feel even more special. So you sit at the gate listening to them announce boarding for ...
Preferred passengers. Extra preferred passengers. Gold level passengers. Platinum level passengers. Platinum plus level passengers.
Gods get suckered too ...
