I'm not an atheist but I do respect them a great deal. While religious people like to use weak circular logic an atheist seems to have the ability to cut through their bullshit. Also, religious people who even consider themselves intelligent seem willing to not ask hard questions about their own religion and why they are a part of it. I don't know many christians enlightened enough to say that the Bible is man made, has flaws, and some contradictions but they choose it because it works for them.

They chose it because .........it works for them.
That is what we call living a lie.... or.... an unwillingness to learn what you think might be true.Many women have turned their backs on their daughters who claimed their father raped them. They refuse to believe it because of the hurt and pain they would experience and they do not want to deal with it.
I have found there is no hurt and pain from learning the bible is mans book. I did at first......quite a bit.
