During WW2 the German Military had incredible power. They had all but conquered europe in a few months. Japan without warning bombed the crap out of Pearl Harbor and then Germany declared war on us as well. Germany got bombed during WW2? I apoligize for not acting like the French surrender monkeys. You have obviously ignored my post. We had an agreement with the Iraqi government. If they did not want the agreement they should not have made it. We are about to stop a potential Hitler, who was the leader of a country that was bound to the treaty of Versailles. This potential Hitler agreed to a cease-fire under conditions. We have the right to enforce that agreement, he broke it not us.

When war is authorized, the overthrow of that country's criminal government is authorized. Occupation is not the objective. Regime change and disarmament are the objective. If the new government wants the support of the US it can allow a US presence. We don't need to get UN approval for something that a Sovereign government allows within its borders.

I think you may be talking out of your bottom. The end of the Gulf War had nothing to do with an "act of mercy" cease fire.
It did not come from my bottom. The cease fire agreement exists. It is a real document. The people that wrote and proposed it, ie Powell and Bush, said they wanted to end the war because we were slaughtering the Iraqi Army too easily. Other Generals like Schwartzkopf were PISSED AS F*** about it. HE WAS SO PISSED OFF. They didn't care about showing mercy to a bunch of SS muderers, they wanted to get the republican guard and Saddam. We agreed to let them off the hook if they agreed to certain conditions of the cease fire. They have broken their promise and they have to face the consequences.

Yes there was. Iraq agreed to the button and then started shooting again once the smoke cleared.
The US was supposed to get Iraq out of Kuwait, NOT OCCUPY IRAQ.
We have been occupying Iraqi airspace the entire decade. We did not initially have UN authorization for this but the Iraqis agreed to it so we would let them off the hook. In addition. When Iraq was out of Kuwait we pursued them into Iraq and killed them. It was our Job to not only kick them out but to crush the threat. We agreed to let the threat disarm itself peacefully out of mercy. It has defied this and until the cease-fire agreement we have the right to pick up where we left off. If the Iraqis don't like that then they should have kept fighting back then and said, "No we reject the conditions of your agreement." had they done that we would have simply done what we are doing now. They made a promise though and then they broke it. That does not work. If it does then we can't Make cease-fire agreements in the future. That would be unfair to the people that do want cease-fire agreements.
The only way that war could be continued is if Iraq occupied Kuwait again.
That is just wrong. If Iraq violates international law then it can be dealt with. If Iraq violates the conditions of the cease-fire agreement it can be dealt with.

WW1 did not end. It became WW2 because no one wanted to enforce the treaty of Versailles and we ended up with an even bigger war than the pre-emtive war that should have been fought, which was legal under the treaty. We could have prevented WW2 with minimal casualties compared to the 50 million people that died because we let the threat get out of control.
We are in the same situation as the rising third reich that was under the treaty of versailles. We have a treaty from Iraq and multiple UN mandates. It is not an illegal war.
