That was my very FIRST District Assembly -- I attended the one in Jersey City, NJ.
Then, unfortunately, I dropped out of the Witness world in 1974 not to return until a decade later. Sometimes I wonder how much JWdom I would have avoided, if only I had understood what was being taught about 1975 and hung around to see the non-event. Instead, I was completely clueless and went back in 1984 to prevent my newborn baby-girl from dying at the Armageddon I was sure would come because I had really believed JW teachings.
That was the last assembly I went to. The Jacksons were there too in Phil, PA. I stopped by to see my former wife when I passed through DC, but she wasn't home. I sat there in my 1965 Mustang in the parking lot and cried, remembering her and the good times we had. I never saw her then or since.
LOL...I guess that means I'll have some penance to do at the next MeetUp?

So many memories.....
You are so right. Families ripped apart, friends cut off...
Damn that WTS, that sucks the life-blood out of people and tosses our used-up carcasses aside like we were horses worth nothing more than the glue factory.
thanks for the jolt onacruse .. now i remmember .. The DIVINE VICTORY assembly ... October 26-29 1973 Norwood Oval, Adelaide South Australia .. (attendance aprox 3,500)
I served as an attendant and assistant to the signwriter. And I worked for weeks beforehand helping to build the stage and drama props ... (the styrofoam four headed angels of Ezekiel were a big hit :) I did night watch with some other lads (that was always a hoot)
We built a well for the drama which caused a fus (the caretaker watched the drama from the frront row and nearly jumped out of his seatt when Jeremiah was raised out (he thought we'd dug into the hallowed football turf) ..
