For a lot of them it just confirms that they really are in "the last days" and that the end is imminent. It seems to strengthen their faith even more.
The carts simply give a presence. They are an easy way to get hours in and for many it beats plodding the streets knocking on empty houses.
I feel pity for them watching them doing such a fruitless mind-numbing task being a gawped at or most ignored as they stand around looking miserable or texting.
I used to feel like a traitor not stopping to introduce myself when I used to visit new towns while on business, but now I shudder when I walk past them as fast as I can. I get irritated with how pathetic they look and am so thankful that I am free and not part of it.
