Green hornet, that Paradise book is what I grew up on! No wonder I felt doomed!

At Armageddon, even children will die with their parents.
“... at Armageddon ... parents will be held accountable for their children, and children will suffer for the failure of their parents.” - Watchtower 1968 Feb 1 pp.83-84

That paradise book. The orange one released around 1958.
All kinds of hidden subliminal messages in there to indoctrinate children.

No wonder why our parents were so hard on us when we were kids ,dragging us to meeting and ministry as though there life depended on it .

@Touchofgrey: With all the interesting living situations these days, split households, divorced, adopted (knowingly or unknowningly) and the historical "you are never 100% sure who the father is" - who are "your children".
I'm just kind of wondering what the situation would be hypothetically if you are adopted but your biological parents are "saved", or if your adopted parents are saved but not your biological parents - that's all kinds of messed up regardless of how you cut it. Hi, I'm your child now, my parents are dead, or your child is dead now because their parents were destroyed.
In the end everybody is someone's child and not all those people are or were or could've been JWs, so does that mean everybody will be destroyed anyway?

Touchofgrey;
JW children were dealt quite a handful,, weren't they??
I mean the big 'A' was forever dangling over our heads every waking moment.
If we weren't doing the Borganizations' will ( Gods' will),,, Armageddon could come open the ground up at at any moment swallowing us all up at any moment.
Just a horrible way for a kid to grow up.

My mother wavered being a jw, not going to meetings for periods of time to appease my non-jw father and because she was worried about what he would be doing when she wasn't around. During that time me and my siblings were scared that we would die at Armaggedon, supposedly being on the brink of its arrival.

When I first began studying with the Witnesses (early 1980s) a scripture being used a lot in the ministry was Psalm 37:10 "Just a little while longer and the wicked one will be no more. And you will certainly give attention to his place and he will not be...(, and the meek will live in peace etc. ) This was a new and comforting thought to me. I had never been closely associated with any religion but had read plenty of literature from various groups that gave me fears of hellfire and Armageddon. So I thought when Jehovah took action there would just be a sudden instant vanishing of everything harmful, it would just be gone, with no pain or horror and the peaceful ones left would work together in the restoration. It was only later that the idea of Armageddon and the illustations of fire and hail from heaven, the ground splitting and people running screaming were introduced. I felt like I had been tricked, the rug pulled out from under me. I stopped responding and my teacher asked what was wrong. I said " You never said anything about this before." "About what?". " All this desruction". "Well Jehovah has to destroy the wicked doesn't He?". I was urged to just keep studying and praying and eventually I'd understand, but I could never harmonize this with God's Love.. iI think the current teaching, implied, not directly expressed is that Jehovah and Jesus will judge each oerson fairly and righteously, so, no children will not be destroyed.

Its a really,, really unfortunate thing being born & raised in this religion.
Thats all you've known. Thats all you expect & are going to expect. The big 'A' is forever immminent. Its all you know.
Meanwhile being stripped of your authenticity & potential.
On the other hand,,, being born into this you learn adaptability. How to be resourceful. When you realize you've been lied too....
