Sad observation

  Reading about jw.org rules changes these days gives me a sad observation.

  Everything what "is" today, can be gone tomorrow.

  That makes it all worthless.

  You were an elder, searching for evidence, and proof to DF a person. Because he or she was not humble enough. No second change given.

  Because you thought you know what was right for the organization.

  And now, it became all worthless with the DF policy change.

  How can you life with your self, elder, with all the hurt you created. All the emotion, the pain and maybe suicide attempts.

  How can this settled without cleaning the elder / co / do and further leadership?

  The backbone is rotten.

  Their Bible trained conscience, sorry WT trained, allows for all the changes because they're all Jehovah's doing, they're just following orders, sorry I mean following the 'new light'.

  Not sure if I read your post right, but the DF policy is the same, in fact has become more difficult, Earlier, people would need just one judicial hearing to cry and save from being DF'ed. However, now you meet the committee multiple times and have to keep crying and proving that you are sorry. Our congregation had a JC (now called CoE) which went on for 4 meetings with the same person and then the decision was taken to reprove.

  JW's have no deeply held convictions. Their most cherished beliefs are subject to change according to whatever the next watchtower says.

  Very gradually and with mixed signals.

  On the one hand they have got rid of the word “disfellowship”, told elders only to remove people as a last resort, and then only for three months or so, and to say hello to them at the meetings in the meantime. That seems like a huge change.

  On the other hand, apostasy is still viewed the same, all the procedures are still in place to remove people, and they haven’t technically rescinded the instruction from earlier videos to socially cut off relatives in an effort to incentivise them to return to the organisation.

  How will the new instructions be applied by JWs and will further relaxation of the rules follow? Are they going to remove the extreme shunning videos of the past few years and disavow their message?

  Things are a bit up in the air and we wait to see how things land. In the meantime there is still scope for elders to convince themselves that not much has changed, if they are included to that view, and so not condemn themselves for past actions. If the organisation spells out the changes slowly and sends mixed messages along the way then they will leave room for elders to make sense of the changes in ways that can sit more comfortably with their past actions.

  Some elders are like this. That’s why they are elders.

  Yep! All it will take is another governmental authority threatening their tax exempt status and they'll modify their procedure language regarding the procedure to attempt to comply find a loophole to the statute.

  Everything today is gone from yesterday. This is a new "faith" to tie in with new norms in society, go gather more people in to worship the GB 2.0 and support not only with their life, but their pocket book.

  They alienated all the decent, thoughtful ones with heavy-handed rules…

  …and they’re now alienating the heavy-handed enforcers by relaxing the rules.

  You’d be tempted to think they just wanted everybody to fuck off.
