Again l am thinking about JWs who moan about " organised " religion. It doesn't seem to occur to them that the WT is one of THE most organised religions in the sense of how they regulate every aspect of people's lives .

However that isn't anything to do with your point about about child abuse , or is it ?

They seem to get followers so far under the thumb that the rank and file are conditioned to " do and not question " in every aspect of , well , everything.

They don't call the police for child rape they keep it in the congregation...that is horrific!

Indeed. It's pretty sad when people are actually excited that they're suddenly 'allowed' to do such mundane things as wear pants or grow a beard.

    But it's totally not a high-control group. 🀣

    Beards are good now

No field service reporting is good now

No suits and ties is good now

I think birthdays for children under 13 will be good one day.

The sister pants thing shows the mind control the cult has over members.

If you're a single sister what could they have done to you if you wore pants before their decree?

Nothing but you were still subservient.

I guess they could have not called on you for the study or not allowed you to be on stage.

On a positive note I don't think any JW's are brainwashed enough to fly airplanes into buildings.

    NEW LIGHT IS AWESOME!!!

Did they really say this? That they are dropping the 607 BCE date?

I'm still amazed by the beard nonsense. Frankly, I think the only reason it was changed was because Mark Sanderson , GB member, wanted to grow one himself and persuaded the rest of the group to his way of thinking. (I'm willing to be corrected if wrong, but I think he was the first of the GB to appear with one). Still astounded by the vast number of brothers who Immediately started growing one. When asked if I was going to I said "No. It's shaving that's the choice, the beard grows whether I do anything or not!". (I've wanted to tell a number of brothers in our hall that they're starting to look like C. T Russell..)

When I was a JW I had a beard occasionally. One time a sister seen me after I shaved my beard off and said approvingly "oh I see you don't have your beard anymore." I responded "yes I do it's just really, really short." End of conversation.

My user name is a combination of fu manchu and mooman.

Milking jobs at work earned me the nickname "mooman."

The original statement was awkwardly worded but in any case, no, 607 BCE has not been dropped. And strictly speaking it’s only from the 1940s; they said it was 606 BCE until 1944.

I always figured they were finally persuaded to try and look a little less like a high-control group for PR reasons, one of β€˜em had to be first, and Sanderson drew the short straw.
