Am I going crazy?

I think it is polite if using a newish or strange acronym to explain what it is in full when first used in a post. I imagine that even the newest Newbie can work out DF'd etc from the context of the post.

Where a new one from within the Borg ( < everyone understand Borg?) comes into existence I echo what Happy Dad says above, please give us it in full, and correctly, at least once,  as I don't like to be corrected by my family or other JW's when I use their esoteric terms.

LDC is defined incorrectly in a post above. This is not helpful, JW's love to find fault with our words so that they can ignore our whole argument.

    DUB

does it need an explanation ?

For not native English speaking people it might be good to explain what 'dub' means (took me months before I found out where it came from, the English pronounciation of the 'W', in 'JW", 'double U' abbreviated to 'dub'. That's correct, isn't it?).

And 'borg'... I don't know what it exactly means. It obviously refers to 'org', but what's the definition of 'borg'?

the dub thing is so easy to take for granted.  I've heard it from JWs quite frequently, even.

borg is a reference to star trek - the Borg is an alien race that is basically a bunch of drones that just do what the collective intelligence tells them.  Their only reason for existing is to "assimilate" other species into the group.  Pretty decent metaphor for the JW cult.

No your not crazy...  Another tie in to 1984 was the way words were dropped and new ones added. If you used an old word it showed you wernt keeping up with the party..  Again, sound framiler?

Thank you OneEyedJoe, I'm not familiar with star trek, so I would never have come up with this explanation. But as you describe it, it's indeed a decent metaphor for the JW's.

And 'dub'... even now it's still confusing sometimes. When I tell my husband something I've read here, and say "I've read this on the JW-forum"... I say it in Dutch to him, so I mix up the Dutch abbreviation of 'Jehovah's Getuigen' (JG) and the English one 'JW' and often mistakenly pronounce the English abbreviation in Dutch, where a 'W' is pronounced as 'way'...and then it gets either stupid or hilarious (depending on my mood haha). Well my husband doesn't understand anything from the JW-cult anyway...
