Greven Ley lines could be the wrong word. They are electromagnetic patchworks that cover the earth's surface, being related to ground minerals, underground steams, etc. Syn Gaia it is, more or less. SS

Shamanism's connection to the earth is interesting. Shamanism (same as witchdoctor/medicine man/woman) is the primordial religion. It emerges spontaniously in all tribalistic societies, and all civilizations arose from tribalism. And so, there were shamans the world over, siberia, europe, asia, africa, australia, north and south america.

How is it connected to the earth? On the testimony of a few shamans, the earth chooses them. Some even claim it is clouds or mountains.

Have you considered that the molecule does not have intelligence in itself, but is being influenced by an unseen "field" of intelligence that surrounds and connects us all? Perhaps we are local and unique "subsets" and variations of that Field of intelligence.

I have a friend who is a tribalist - she keeps saying there are too many people, and that modern agriculture is a bad thing. I say screw it, and give me a martini.

Czar; funny you should mention that; one thing that many people do not realise is the agendas of extreme animal rights activists.

To say they are in favour of massive depopulation and rampant luddism would be, well... saying what they think.

In this scenario, humans and their/our exploits aren't out of place at all. After all, in this context, we are a product of earth, and together w our technology, we are providing broader feedback than it previously had. Don't know what would happen, though, if we went too far, or what would be too much. Would the earth allow us to develop our technology to the point that we would totally displace nature and have machines do everything for us?

Nonotechnology could become ubiquitous, one day. Want wood? Program it in. Want a steak, medium rare? Program it. Want a live cat? Umm, not sure if we could do that.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. There were some russian scientists working w dna strings, who were able to measure a field (electromagnetic, i believe) around the molecules.
