I don't understand your logic, why would the Society sue Ray Franz?

In his books, he was stating his opinion and that's all. Even if the Society doesn't agree with his interpretation of what happened during his time as Governing Body Member, that doesn't mean that they could sue. Plus why would the Society get involved in such a long process in the courts, this would take away from their concentration in preaching work.

Why would the Society sue Ray Franz? -- Because if they had verifiable proof that he was being defamatory or deliberately using the book to publish libel, a lawsuit would put a quick stop to the influence the book has had in helping many thousands see the WT Society for what it is, merely a publishing corporation leading a man-made religion.

The WT Society wouldn't pursue this "because it would take their concentration away from the preaching work"?? HAHA. They have a large legal department, ready to spring into action. They have spent large amounts of time on property cases in Brooklyn, the past-due-tax case in France, blood cases, child molestation cases, just to name a few. To them going to court is part and parcel of their preaching work, and not a distraction from it.

Sword of Jah, Gopher made some really good points. If they could sue Ray Franz, with there rather large legal staff, it would certainly add to the "preaching work" and greatly diminish from the impact of Ray's book. Think about it.

sword of jah...i believe that larc and gophers' argument hold more weight.
ray franz may have printed his interpretation of events during his time on the bench. however, certain policies and procedures were also stated that were not opinion. i can understand the phrase vengeance falls to jehovah...but, the preaching work would benefit from a cash influx. maybe, they couldn't get a 2/3rd vote to sue ray franz. :)

james thomas...i like your dishes analogy. it's true that during very brief moments i "feel" the moment. but, honestly, i can sustain it for mere seconds.
trouble is i always have commentary, even if commented only to myself...most of the time...and i always judge myself. i believe on my tombstone they'll will quote "i'm sorry"...

anyway, i have to print out your thoughts so i can ponder them later.
