Hey this is Crazyguy, forgot my password so this is my new name. Anyway be sure to all you new ones that if you post any personal info on this forum or respond to PMs asking for email addresses this information maybe able to be used by WT spies to try and find out who you are! Someone has recently PMd me asking for my email address or more accurately to respond to his email address which would give him mine, this maybe an innocent request but this person also has no posting history. No comments in threads or any threads started by him/her. Again this could be an innocent request but one never knows, So be careful!!
Beware of divulging any personal info on this site!

Excellent caution, Crazyguy. I can still be amazed at how much personal information, including other people's names, locations and positions are disclosed on this forum. You are absolutely correct. Quite apart from breaching other people's privacy, posters need to be aware that they need to refrain from divulging too much personal information.

Am I the only person that uses fake emails? A Watchtower spy couldn't outsmart me on their best day. -

Lurkers and newbies especially need to take care here more so if they are not computer savvy .
Good advice.

And there's me (and I hope more like me). My wife and I officially DA'd ourselves thirty years ago next month. I've made no attempt to hide my location or identity because I don't give a rat's ass if the WTBS knows who or where I am. Of course we're helped that at this point we have no friends or family shunning us. There are some good friends I miss and would love to see again. They just need to realize that they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting me back to a Kingdom Hall.

Sail Away
The Organization has taken everything it possibly can from me. I have nothing left to lose. There is relief and freedom from having walked away cold turkey and subsequently sending a letter of resignation through my attorney. I did that so they would stop randomly showing up on my doorstep. I didn't want to be looking over my shoulder constantly.
That said this is the internet, so I am protective of what I say about my husband and family. We are all out except my FIL, but I feel only they should tell their personal stories, if and when they are ready.

The Fall Guy
The hierarchy within the WTBTS is imitating the M.O. of the Spanish Inquisition, the McCarthy witch-hunts, and Nazi Germany, namely, to plant spies everywhere in order to instil fear and obedience as a means of silencing genuine and sincere individuals who recognise that the organisation is anything but "the truth."
It's a dead certainty that the cult has spies monitoring this site just as they do with YouTube etc. So if anyone requests your private details or email etc., cut them dead!

It's a general internet rule. If you get a direct message from someone on any site (including Facebook and Twitter) saying "hey, give me your personal information!" ... and you do, well, I think it's foolish.
At best, they are likely spammers, at worse they are likely to be trying to find people to defraud (esp. when the requests are sent en-masse).
Unless there are specific reasons for someone to contact you and only you directly (like related to a post you made) you should ignore it an even then be wary, especially if the person has no history on the site.
It's also why we have limits so even if they send 1,000 messages, only a few ever get delivered.
