    minimus,

The WT was right about one thing - the world is going to hell in a bucket. Although I am enjoying my own life, I think that humanity as a whole is in bad bad shape. This is very depressing for me.

Wouldn't you have felt like this during WW1 and WW2? Has the world been a wonderful place since you've been around? Not me, either. as far as the WT. being right about the world going to hell in a bucket, they've ALWAYS said that. Don't fret now, my friend. We'll make it. honest we will!

I think it has alot to do with adapting to my new life. So far I am happy with what I now know, and certainly alot less pressure in my life. But right now I am adapting to a different type of pressure and like most things time will help alot.

I agree with JH. I strongly believed what I knew then to be the truth; I more strongly believe what I know now to be closer to the truth. The difference is, now I am free to express my innermost thoughts (and doubts).

I disagree. The world is no better, nor any worse, than it's been for millenia. Different culture, different age, essentially the same problems. I suggest it's that damn WTS apocalyptic eschatology (read e-scat-ology) that makes JWs, and to a degree, ex-JWs, think things are so bad.

    Well said Craig.

I guess it sort of depends on which "world" folks are talking about. The earth has been around a few billion years and will be around another few billion. But just because the world will be around a long time doesn't mean that Western civilization will be also.

I'm surprised that some feel more spiritual. I was expecting less spiritual as an answer because of some expressing a lack or loss of faith or because of feeling less "religious". I realize that one not need feel "religious" to be spiritual.

    Maybe not stronger, but wiser.

Yes. The strength was always there, I realize now, but I had suppressed it in favor of conformity. No more!

Absolutely......Positively..........and Definitely YES on all three counts. It's amazing how freeing it is to get away from tyrants.
