Israel's WMD... Are they next?

I don't take sides because I feel both sides are wrong. The only reason why we have these problems is because some old book full of myths and legends tells them they are the "chosen race" and it is all right to kill non believers. This goes on both sides of the fence. Until we can look at each other as human beings that have a right to exist and are tolerant of each others difference, we will be domed to annihilation. The way were going, it will only be a matter of someone will start of a chain of events that we won't be able to back away from until the destruction of civilization that we know of. So don't be fooled about who is right or wrong or who or who doesn't have WMD, it’s all about ideological differences, that’s all. Then when we are all dead what will it matter of who was right or wrong?

Pleasuredome - that was quite a bit of one-sided argumentation you opened with. And leaving out all the Arab atrocities over the same time span was really an inspired move. You think anyone noticed? Let me suggest you go read "The Haj" by Leon Uris. Then you'll at least be aware of both sides of your story. Whether you incorporate it into your argumentation is anybody's guess. My guess is that you will not, not given the lop-sided nature of your opening statement.

Simon - Of course you can use nuclear weapons on an advancing army for defensive purposes. All nuclear weapons are not strategic; some are theatre nuclear weapons, tactical in nature and we have plenty of them.

Penwell: If we use your standard, many Nations would not have a claim. Many Nations where founded by God’s grace. So what? The real issue is who has a historical claim?

Thanks everyone for making one of the more high quality threads on this forum. Very intelligent discussion on the whole.

I enjoyed Simon's comments regarding nuclear capability. Good point.

Israel will not be "next" simply because Israel has U.S. support. Also, the Bible Belt region in the States is very politically powerful and used to believe that God supports Israel, and thus America should as well. Do they still believe this and do they still strongly influence American policies regarding Israel?

Israel is no saint in the Middle Eastern relations muddle. Nor are the Arab nations. Having talked to people from Lebanon and Israel, I am aware of some of the issues on both sides, and it is very complex at best. There is no simple view, and no simple answers.

I will venture to say yes ,since I do live in texas and have heard alot of the religionists such as baptist or catholic wanting to show support for Israel on the basis of their belief that the jews today are still considered a chosen race by the God of the bible. I have heard plenty of televangelists say the same ,Pat Robertson comes to mind also Benny Hinn. It really makes me wonder how these people can support an anti christ nation such as modern day Isreal and continue to call themselves christian .

But what does it matter if we end up all dead? In this 21 century we should beyond the "I am right and everyone else is wrong" philosophy. It is really irrelevant to who is right or wrong. We have to think in terms of being able to understand each others differences. If you talk to both sides of an issue they will both have evidence to support their arguments. We now as a civilization at a point where it will only be a matter of time and some fanatic will get their hands on a nuclear weapons and it will be all over. We are no longer fighting with sticks and stones.

i know, fantastic wasnt it? francois, my point was about how israel is portayed in a good light and throwing in the word 'democracy' to justify them having WMD, when it's just as bad as other nations around it. the 'us right, them wrong' argument. see bill pen's post above.

You can take the person out of the Kingdom Hall but you can't [always] take the Kingdom Hall out of the person.

    Pennwell:

That is a little extreme, don’t you think? Plus, there are many more Nations out there that can cause, if not the same, even more concerns.......

Is that not what Bush is doing, nipping it in the bud, so to speak
