@Still Totally ADD I'm sure having you and your wife welcoming him back home will soften some of the trauma. Such a happy story, and congratulations again. I do believe that pinpointing exactly HOW things went bottom side up can help in the recovery process. So if this thread can help your son not just identify, but truly understand the cause of such mental heaval, then I'm glad.

You can't fix what you don't own. Growing up in the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses could be described as outsourcing our problems, but for most of us that were born in we didn't outsource them, as that speaks to an action one performs of their free will. Our problems were stolen from us. By doing so, the cult claimed our power, and our ability to think in some ways. -

I haven't read all the comments yet. But by what Ive just read and saw I think this needs to be in every therapists 'toolbox' when dealing with therapy for exjws. Very powerful.

@caves I'm so happy this resonated with you. Your rapid growth since joining this forum has been startling and inspiring. I know haven't been very active the last week thanks to my own cult heartaches plaguing me, but please know I see you. You are a strong man for giving advice and support to others while juggling your own pain. There will be lags up ahead (hello - I'm experiencing one now), but that's what we're all here for when this kind of thing happens. Here's to your continuous progress out of Watchtower's gaseous FOG.

Wondered where you were, wake me. I get it... having to “den up” my oldest girl says. Sometimes it isn’t a full-on depression but a conserving of one’s strength and healing that we need quiet.
