Serena William's thanks Jehovah God for allowing her to participate in sports. How nice. My JW parents followed the rules and thought they were doing Jehovahs will by denying me participation in sports. "Bad association spoils useful habits". How many of you remember that?

I was very agressive as a teen. 6' tall at 15. Somewhat husky, and fearless. Uncoached for sure. Smoked pot every day to deal with the pain of being a pariah for the Watchtower.

I'm now 61. My youngest is 17, going into 12th grade next year. He is captain of the football team. 6' 2' . 240 LBS. - Lineman. Very mild personality.... not like me. Doesn't mind being hurt, like me.

    Praise Jah you people.

She might ask why men are being allowed to come against women in the Olympics. My heart goes out to boxer Angela Carini, forced to fight a man and had to forfeit. The Olympics began with a demonic show, now they're making the public abuse of women a televised sport.

Yep. Only in the upside down world of the far left can a man get a trophy on national Television for beating the snot out of a woman. Kamallah Harris for President!

I was discouraged from playing on a company softball team. Thanks, Jehovah!

Remember, we must only pray for things that are in keeping with Jehovah's will and plans. Serena: Jehovah, please help me to win a worldly tennis tournament!

Still trying to understand why my JW parents wouldn't let me do sports in school because of the association with worldly people but allowed, encouraged and helped me participate in Olympics of the Mind. Even had the bad association worldly kids over to the house to do that.

Just shut my little kid mouth and enjoyed what I could do even if it didn't make sense because I knew if I questioned it what would happen.

I also heard the quote: „ For physical training is beneficial for a little, but godly devotion is beneficial for all things, as it holds promise of the life now and the life that is to come.“

I note that this rendering is more negative than other translations that state physical training is good but godly devotion is better.

Can't put my finger on it, but there is something about her I can't stand!

She strikes me as being a total phony about everything.

Hell, one thing for sure I know she is phony, being a JW.

The way her opponent was looking at her is the way I feel about her.

I find THIS -- or, in fact, any sports player who thanks God for their victory -- to be the most presumptuous claim to make in public!

Are the really suggesting that God found the time and considered their personal sports victory SO important that He was too damn busy to answer the prayer of a child being raped? Or, a family being slaughtered by thieves? Or, a mother praying for remission of the cancer that is slowly eating away and killing her child?

Those people are egomaniacs and think WAY TOO MUCH of themselves. I hate to break it to them, but God doesn't give a pfuck about them or their goal/accomplishment.

I wonder if she really knows that professional sports is frowned on by the WTS. After all, she did not get baptized until she LEFT professional sports.

Yep, Was raised on that statement. Somehow they failed to get the clear message in that scripture that God is saying go for it, just remember what's most important.

The way they interpret that scripture is, if you want to play sports you will have to leave our home, because we don't want to be embarrased at the kingdom Hall in front of all our fake friends.
