I have an opinion on this subject but it very subjective so I am probably wrong (and ignorant).
Listerine was once considered wrong in treating mouth germs etc, preventing people from being able to have surgery that could save their lives. Listerine and similar products are now considered everyday essential items.
Some medicines that I take to very successfully treat bipolar were once only used for other medical conditions, and it would have been completely condemned to use those medications to treat my issues.
Medicine changes and evolves and that is a great thing. Alternative medicine also has a place in society in my opinion. Who knows, one day mushrooms may cure cancer or other major health issues the world currently faces.
Where my line gets drawn is when someone who has a following of people exiting a cult, in very vulnerable situations, starts talking about going off medications without medical supervision and talking about participating in illegal drug activities, claiming they fixed their problems.
I certainly maintained the view, based on what lloyd said, that mushrooms were not illegal in Canada and that he could have been going to a person with recognised qualifications in that area of medicine. Whilst that may be possible, I don’t understand how given that mushrooms are illegal.
I still don’t think he understands how his words and actions can affect his viewers. 🤷‍♀️

I still don’t think he cares how his words and actions can affect his viewers. His primary, probably his only, concern is "What does Lloyd want to do? What will make Lloyd feel good?"

I don’t disagree Simon, I think that’s sad but 🤷‍♀️ as he says repeatedly, it’s his channel and he can do what he wants $*** everyone else 🤦‍♀️

Yes Kim I remember watching one of his covid live chats with a few others on there. His arrogance really showed when he said multiple times it’s my channel and I do what I want.

How long until he deletes that video and starts threatening to sue anyone who says he promotes illegal drugs on his channel

Someone with a vested interest in pushing these drugs saw an opportunity to recruit someone with enough of a YouTube audience that it was worth their expense to fund his 'experiment' so he could blab about his wonderful 'experience' to promote their use.

That would be standard business practice for Lloyd. I can see him being DMed and emailed by interested parties to go to the shroom guy, and Lloyd forwards the contact info to his friend in exchange for a percentage.

He did the same thing with COC. He referred people to Arthur after promoting the bootleg on one of his videos, Arthur did all the work, and Lloyd received a cut of the profits.

I must confess that I too was misled into thinking it was a legitimate enterprise in Canada. After all, they seem to have liberal laws concerning euthanasia and lax drug policies.

Now that I think of it, his friend was probably some self-styled new age “therapist” working out of a teepee or yurt in Saskatchewan. Anyone can print a business card out of nothing and make bold claims of expertise in certain fields.

Hmmm….is any of what he said actually true?

    Just more fantasy perhaps?

That is exactly my point. Given the source, I don't see any good reason to conclude that the slob's story is truthful. The research re: mushrooms for therapeutic applications is promising, and Johns Hopkins researchers have documented progress that warrants continued research. What the slob claims to have experienced is not similar to the "Johns Hopkins method."

Canada has only recently softened its laws to allow mushroom therapy for certain patients, but it is strictly-regulated and each case must be approved by the Canadian government health agency on an individual basis. Mushrooms remain illegal in Canada, subject to that exception. It is only approved in extreme circumstances and the slob's situation does not qualify, particularly since it was administered by someone with no relevant professional license. The slob is doing a disservice to those who may be legitimately helped by this research by posting a video that illustrates unlawful experimentation with the drug, regardless of whether his usage as described actually occurred, or was, as I believe, fabricated to get some clicks.

It is my channel I can do whatever I want, the fact I am paid by your generous donations means I get to choose the content I create.
