Listen obey and get vaxed

The truth is most active JWs would probably agree that most of the teachings are not right, the new thing is that we just don’t know.

The governing body now say they get things wrong and make mistakes as they are not inspired and not infallible. Yet they are still to be trusted no matter what?

they are not trusted. If there is another pandemic and another doubtful vaccine that the GB say is safe, I don’t think many JWs would listen obey and get vaxed this time around.

    lol good headline

We had a faithful sister in the congregation who turned anti vax half way through the pandemic after initial obedience and taking the experimental treatments the GB endorsed. You might think this could be a problem in terms of unity and obedience going forward, but unfortunately she died of an aggressive cancer a few months ago, and her best friend died of a stroke a year earlier, two weeks after her first vaccine. (This was one of the things that prompted her vax skepticism.)

After the divisions the GB caused by coercing the Covid vaccine, I hope they don't make that mistake again.

Did it cause a lot of division? As far as I can tell, most were happy with the guidance from the GB during the pandemic and still are. It’s only a small minority who demurred, increasing slightly as the pandemic wore on, but still a small percentage. And some of those who came to reject the vaccines didn’t frame it in terms of the GB getting it wrong. I don’t totally understand how they made sense of it, but it didn’t seem to turn them into apostates, as far as I can tell.

I am speaking from my own perspective. I was one of the few that refused the vaccine. It was not received well.

The GB doesn't make that mistake again.,,,, they've proven time & time again they can willfully blindly paint themselves into a corner.🙂

My parents didn't take the vax, Dad is an elder, and neither did some of the other elders and their families.

Trust in the GB is selective, but they don't see how odd that looks when they go along with practically everything else. I can't understand it myself.

I think they just kept very quiet about their non compliance, made no waves in the cong.

That same cong had a guest speaker earlier this year comparing the vax to Jesus' ransom sacrifice and those refusing the vax are like those refusing Jesus' sacrifice, oh the irony!

In addition to refusing the vaccine, I also complained about the KHs being locked down and the door-to-door work being banned. I didn't want to 'get with the program'. I ended up going inactive for 2 years over that mess.

    KerryKing,

That is unbelievable and blasphemous! A visiting speaker using the analogy of getting vaccinated as if it were comparable with the life-saving sacrifice of our Lord Jesus? Medications are not without potential health risks. Clearly, the speaker was unaware of the Thalidomide scandal.
