    Yes.

The Borg has a way of infantilizing someone & making you dependant on them

Like a baby elephant chained to a post.

When the elephant grows up,, the elephant can easily tear away from that post.

Thats the mindset of JWs,,,,that the jws dont need the Borg. Its ummm,,,,actually the opposite.

The 1995 generation change just about took me out. But no! I spent hours/days researching it (wasn't it something about the greek word "to'te" meaning "then" the end will come -- as in not "immediately then" but "way off then"?). Of course, by research, I mean I drug out dozens of WT publications. Well, I convinced myself to hang in there another 15 years. It was the "overlapping generation" that eventually made me Awaken! (See how I did that. LOL)

It occurred to me two days ago and knowing about the "Jesus" series ,new songs, emphasis on him rather than David, Paul or Jah, which is all new, other than brief mentions over the years and the Greatest Teacher book, that I wondered that now the Project 2025 script is unveiled, and the politicos want to make USA a "christian nation", has the WTBTS been one step ahead to be able to say, without a doubt we are Christian, why, just look at how we worship Jesus? Foregoing any type of shutdown should a certain person win. Just a thought.

I just feel there was something big behind the push, especially as the sheep have been told over and over Jesus did not die for the sheep, just the anointed

    Thanks Beth! That's true.

The encouraging thing is our kids awakened even before we did.

I didn't leave instantaneously,, but at that moment I allowed myself to start researching. Joined this site, started visiting "apostate" sites, bought about 10 books on cults, of course Raymond Franz's books. Faded over 4 years

Proud to say our last meeting was the memorial 2000.

Advice for any fence sitters out there,

When you buy a car do you only research the car with the manufacturers information or do you seak out independent non bias sources?

You can't make a rational choice of religion only using the information they provide.

    DESIROUS OF CHANGE:

I’m glad you finally did get out though!

You’re probably not the only one who hung around until that Overlapping crap. I was long Out by then, thankfully..

But, the real issue with 1995 was the time element for people who didn’t have a decent job and were waiting for Armageddon to ‘save’ them.. That was a linchpin teaching.. When that got thrown out the window, people realized this ‘system’ would be around longer… They did the math and realized it was later than they thought and they better do something.. I had a hypocritical elder tell me he was putting in more overtime to save for his retirement.. But he didn’t leave the religion. I got out because that was the last straw as far as I was concerned.. I just didn’t believe them anymore.

It’s also possible some Witnesses there weren’t worried about their financial/job situation and hung around after 1995 and maybe even stuck around after the ‘Overcrapping’ nonsense.

I think anybody who is left in the JWs at this point does NOT care what is being taught.
