I think anybody who is left in the JWs at this point does NOT care what is being taught. ~ LHG
I think that is a great summary of it all. Nor will they care about any "new light" changes. For whatever reasons, they just keep drinking the Koolaid.

I think,,,,,.
,,,,, people just stay in the Borg because of family,, friends or of course,,, the sunk cost fallacy.
Even if they no longer believe ""it"".
I think some people think they can stay in and avoid being contaminated by some of the WTS teachings, I was like that PIMO. I finally realized I could not escape the taint, not be identified with the lies the WTS taught nor share them with non-jws as if it were true. Like not telling people they stepping into a deadly trap. I could no longer make excuses for the lack of real love in the WTS organization. In Jonestown, people not allowed not to drink the Koolaid, they were forced at gunpoint and seeing family members die, they wanted to die with them.
JWs vs Jonestown.
The witnesses I do believe are just a hop, skip and a jump from a Jonestown event.
I do believe that the JWs mindset is there. They will do what it takes to get to the new world.
Thats,, where it's dangerous!!!
Beth Sarim, I believe the mindset. But I remember that many of Jones followers did not follow him to Guyana (?). Others left while they could while there. Others stayed because of family in the group. The WTS doesn't seem to finished this culling process. But I can see it happening over time, and then the big group suicide at gunpoint. Is that suicide? I have found that many jws are not so obedient to the WTS and hide it from others, even elders. They feel if they don't get caught by men, nothing will happen to them. I can see elders and others holding the guns when their preservation is at risk. And I saw that trend when I left. I wanted to be like the Jim Jones followers who left before the move to Guyana.
Blondie,,great points!!!

That is certainly very common. I think it is why WT had to "allow" minor gambling (LOTS of JWs were buying Lotto tix) and going to the casino boats. Families who are "in the know" about how JCs work (elders and their wives/families) are often able to strategize their statements/confessions and avoid The Axe. Those that do not know how to play their game, go in unknowing and get kicked out while three assholes feel like bigshots and feel vindicated in ruining their lives.
A lot of JWS have to be strategic in order to do a few minor '''sins"" like leaving no evidence,,,throwing away lotto tix after playing.
Hiding R rated moviies and not talking about going to clubs and what not....you know ""say little say well"" on a who knows who cares basis. 🙂
You better not hit the big lotto. The "not American" religion uses the American movie rating system.
I have to watch to not let it be known I read page 2 of letters. And no slip of the tongue : KoolAid edition watchtower
If you did hit the big lotto,,, you'd be rich & wouldn't matter.
Worst case scenario get df'd & make your way back to the Borg in 6 mos to a year or so,,,if you want to.
The Borg would likely want you back because you're loaded $$$$$
