    dear lyin eyes,

im so sorry that you are having so much pain. i do KNOW that fibromyalgia is real and can be very challenging. i have arthritis in my hands and neck (neck doesn't bother me thank goodness). hands do as i work with them all the time. glucosamine/chondritin helps but you must take enough of it regularly. also msm helps. a couple of years ago when it was discovered that i had 3(!) bone spurs on my foot, had been hobbling around for months, i was prescribed vioxx. nothing had touched the pain until i started with the vioxx and then everything (foot and hands) cleared up. it does have side effects and so you have to weigh pros and cons. i don't really think it is wise for long-term use.

devin starlanyl has written a book on fibromyalgia. it is worthwhile and comprehensive. if you need full title let me know - i have mentioned it on other threads - but it is not nearby.

best wishes, lyin eyes. i think of you often. nowisee

    Hi Lyin' Eyes;

Do you have rheumatoid or osteoarthritis? I would definetely continue with the glucosamine and condroitin, plus you need some sort of lubrication, like Salmon Oil or Flaxseed oil for your joints.

I find that exercise helps ALOT with arthritis. Even though it can be painful at first, it really, really helps. I also would recommend getting the book "Back to Eden" by Jethro Klauss that someone else here recommended. Excellent book. You can get it at alot of health food stores. There's another book, more like an encyclopedia called "Prescription for Natural Healing" that you can get in a health food store. It's fantastic!!

Another thing you might try is buying one of those home parafin wax kits. I'm not sure about the States, but here in Canada, the Health Minister has made all spas use tissue paper dipped in the parafin wax, before they put it on the customer, as it's alot more sanitary. If you use the tissues dipped in the wax, and wrap it on whatever part of your body aches, believe me, it helps enormously with the pain you get from arthritis..........plus it makes your skin nice and soft.

    Good luck!

So sorry to hear of you all suffering...I know what it is like-I started Rheamatoid Arth when I was 28 yrs old ( am in my 76 year now) I have been on all you mentioned. But find no relief for long-I had gold injections.( helped for awhile) Devils Claw helped a lot longer,( that is in the health store) Then that wore off- was on Vioxx- Am on Celebrex- Methetrexate-Aventia-But although the methetrexate was wonderful for awhile I am still on it-I am in intense pain > wrists- hips-feet.I have worn the bracelets etc: Dipped my feet & hands in Hot wax. Dipped my hands & feet in ice water( I was told that would give relief( NOT)
My Doctor said this is the worst Month for Arth/...I do hope you all find relief in your search.....

    Lying Eyes,

I have arthritis in my left knee and also in my foot. Mobility is very important to me, especially as my job involves lot's of ladder activity. Several years ago, I altered my diet and cut back dramatically on red meat. I also increased my fish consumption, including oily fish, and made sure that I have at least 5 portions of fruit and / or vegetables per day. The results have been astounding and I suffer very little pain all the time that I stick to that regimen. If I stay with our friends who are great meat eaters, within several days the discomfort returns as my intake alters back to what it once was.

    Hope that helps.

    Mike..

Hey lyin..I'm not sure about the supplements, but when my arthritis acts up I use Capsacin cream..it uses the same peppers they make Tobasco sauce with...I has a natural anagesic called capsicum which helps with the pain...also the more you use it the more it builds up and keeps working in your system. Just don't get any on your eyes or naughty bits...trust me on that one..*LOL*

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer

Yeah, just a touch of capsaicin on your back, and the heat will build up throughout the day in that spot. You'll even feel it the next day.

eheheh -- I accidentally touched it on my naughty spot one time. OUCH dammit.

Hi Dede, For some reason I had taken this page on Nixing arthritis Naturally out of a Mother Earth News mag , Feb/March 2002 issue, I use to get. go to www.motherearthnews.com then to the archives and type in

    Nix Arthritis Aches Naturally

they have quite a few good ones to try

also I hope you have a handicap parking permit, in your case you would definitely qualify for one. I knew a young lady who has about the same thing and was able to get one because like you her feet hurt so much some times it is painful to walk.

Great advice guys,,,,,,,, I am laughing with ya Valis and Gopher, on the capsisum cream, I used it on my foot when I had a morton's neuroma, it is still there but comes and goes. THe foot doctor gave me a serious of 4 steroid shots last year for it and it hurt like hell, but help just a bit. I gain so much weight, bloated up and it wasnt worth it , so I used the cream and it burned like hell, but did help........I got some of the cream in my eye. Of course I washed my hands very well,,,,,,,,,but I tell you this stuff does not wash off with just soap and water........lol.......yeah never do that again.

Mouthy , I am so sorry you have so much pain too, you sexy granny you,,,,,,,you know I really think the medical profession should let people who have such pain,,,,,, as you do, have pain pills...... just keep them at a dosage that you can not exceed therefore they wouldnt be so worried about abuse. My goodness this has always made me so mad,,,,,,,they will only give you pain pills if you are terminally ill, but if you have a lifelong chronic condition,,,,,,,,,they act like you are asking permission to kill the pope as to have just a few pain pills durning a bad episode. I dont really think daily pain pill therapy is for everyone with arthritis , because some of us can function pretty good with other meds, and ours isnt that bad. But after you have tried everything , and nothing works, and you are in so much pain, I think it is an option more doctors should look into. I am just speaking from how the doctors are here in my state,

That is why I am all for legalizing the Mary Jane for pain management..........it is in the works, so vote for Mary Jane the next election.........lol. I dont use the stuff for pain management , but I would if I had to.

And thanks for recommending that book, I will get it since it has been so highly regarded,,,,,,, I know I need to exercise , and it is a very important piece of the puzzle in getting better.

Englishman,,,,,,,,,,, I have been eating lots of tuna fish here lately,,,,,,,,, because I crave it, also fish of any kind, this is just handy. I have even been eating canned sardines. I wonder if that is because my body knows this is good for me? I mean I really have been craving the fish. I think i have some Omega 3 capsuls somewhere,,,,,,,,guess I need to put them by the computer ,so i will remember to take them too.

Bad Jerry, yes I have handicap parking , my foot doctor who has delt with me since I was 6 , gave it to me a couple of years back, mine never has to have a doctors letter again. I just have to renew it every few years.

I feel kind of guilty having it , because sometimes I can do so much , I can work, dance , walk, and feel pretty normal,,,,,,,,,but then when I have a bad episode , I realize how much I value not having to walk so far when I am limping. I have noticed that I can't dance as much as I was as of lately, thou....kind of sad, since I love it so much. But if I am feeling good and not much pain, I will usally leave the handicap parking for others,,,,,,,and I dont mind walking at these times. I really just use mine for when I really need it. That way I dont feel that I am taking a parking place away from someone who is worse off than I am.

Oh , someone asked what kind of arthritis I have,,,,,,, I had juvinile arthritis, which also included alot of calcium build up and also some of the wear and tear on my feet and knees,,,,,are due to the structual shape of my feet , my ankels turn in real bad too,,,,,The doctors at the physical therapy clinic, explained to me that if your feet are off, due to fallen arches, flat feet, turned in ankels etc. it effects your whole body all the way to your head,,,,,,,which I also have TMJ, since I was about 12.

GOD,,,,,,, I should like a dieing horse stuck in quick sand,,,,,,,,, someone get the shotgun!!!!!!!!LOL.

Cod liver oil! It's graet for aches and pains. Course you have to drink it neat, no cheating with capsules mind, they barely hold a spitful.

    Mmmm!
