LoveUni: I noticed he made some good jokes at the expense of Arabs and Arabic culture ... didn't hurt, did it
But he did NOT make jokes at the expense of Islam, did he?
Well done, you kind of made SSC's point for him

That is true. Peters rarely takes shots at religion - his comedy is race directed. The majority of the Arab race is Islamic. So, I guess I was racial profiling by posting that clip...

LOL OC: exactly and typical stand up bullshit. Note he also never approached the topic of Islam - just Arabs. I always laugh at stand-ups constantly tearing into Christianity which I love but it gets old. When they have the gall to claim they use comedy as a means of activism or to force us to take a hard look at ourselves and society I instantly switch off unless I know they have no bias and actually have to the balls to pick on Islam - otherwise they're spineless gits picking on the easy target - don't try and act like some super social justice warrior when clearly you just pick subjects that won't upset the popularity you enjoy with fans who share your same opinions.

    Oh, no Sweatsville Idaho, SSC.

Hopefully, in the near future, there will be films and sketches that laugh at things Islamic - in much the same way that all things Christian are laughed at now.

Perhaps Monty Python could consider doing a sequel to The Life Of Brian, entitled The Life of Bashar.

Set in the early 21st century, the Arab World is a mess - takfiri pronouncements, beheadings and suicide bombings are commonplace. From such squalor emerges the film's eponymous hero. He's just pootling along as your average Arab dictator, happily gassing and barrel-bombing his fellow Arabs, when it all starts to get a bit same-y. Bored witless, Bashar decides things have to change.

As we follow Bashar on his quest for fun, we discover that he finds out he's the Mahdi, according to some dodgy Shia documents. He also falls in love with a woman sporting a big bush and out-of-place Welsh accent.

Can he evade the evil Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi with the help of his uncle Vlad, and unite all Arab Muslims?

Cleese, Palin et al over to you

    And, ain't that America?

    The right criticizes the Muslims,

While the left criticizes the Christians.

    I'm pretty sure that if you're a Fundamentalist anything, that's a problem.

SecretSlaveClass & GrreatTeacher, did you notice the firearms that the right wingers had? How many assault rifles did the left bring?

True dat. And the one angry guy in the red shirt that brought his bottle with him. They don't hide them in those kitschy brown paper bags anymore. He's got his wrapped in a plastic wal-mart bag!

did you notice the firearms that the right wingers had?

Correct - these right-wing loons were armed to the teeth, and that's not good.

However, I think you've neglected to add some context. The right-wing crazies' reaction to all things Islamic has come after:

    1) 3,000 innocent people were killed on 9/11 by Salafi Muslims

    2) American contractors were beheaded in Iraq (e.g. Nicolas Berg, 2004)

    3) Islamist groups had declared war on the USA

    4) innocent co-workers in America were beheaded (e.g. the Oklahoma beheading)

    5) innocent photojournalists were beheaded in Syria (e.g. James Foley and Stephen Sotloff)

    6) the Boston marathon bombing

    7) numerous terror plots foiled.

The left-wingers in your picture had no weapons (phew!), but I find commonplace left-wing, relaxed attitudes to Islamism (violent, politicised, radical Islam) to be just has dangerous as gun-toting right-wing loons, if not more so.

And, incredibly, not a single one of those legally carried firearms went off!

Also, the right-wingers didn't throw tampons, jars of urine or anything of that nature.

Footnote: I'm not endorsing open carry demonstrations like the one above because I think it does more to hurt the message than help it. However, what they did was completely legal.

Also, I feel that protests like these on both sides are counter-productive. They give the appearance that those that side with an issue one way or another are loons...nut jobs...

Most rational people can hold a position on an issue without resorting to extreme tactics like the ones above.
