What Another Watchtower Defeat Means

The Watchtower suffered yet another defeat in its battle to protect its fading image

as its reputation changes from martyrdom ---to protectors of child molesters.

Interesting how the CBS news led into the story with news of a newly found

kidnapped young boy - and Dan Rathers' calculations about Catholic child abuse

liability - really puts the Watchtower in good company, huh?

News to you Bethel Lurkers: This scandal ISN'T GOING AWAY. You now need

    to consider what that means.

Jehovah God IS NOT SPARING YOU! The Almighty is NOT protecting you.

There is no Holy Spirit shielding your corrupt, uncaring leadership.

I can remember when Watchtower apologists laughed at Silentlambs from

"Paducah, Kentucky" - think they're still laughing now?

The Bible offers you the wise advice of Gamaliel "if this scheme is from men,

it will be overthrown, but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them"

I predict a day will come when the Watchtower Society will face ruin like an

Iraqi Information Minister - bragging, lying, and making empty, arrogant threats

-------------------------------- while repo men hired by lawyers take their assets away.

METATRON,you are so right.Remember trolls, every donation you make will pay for a molested child. And as you sit in youre meeting's at the hall ,look and see all those children around you and think, could that child be one that is keeping a secret to protect the watchtower? If the sickness of rapeing a child does not bother you then maybe money will. One way or another you will pay.

The segment claimed that the W.T. acknowledges there is a problem and sent a letter to the elders telling them where there is a law on reporting to the authorities they must do so even if there is only one witness. Can anyone link us to this letter? Bill Bowen claims that there are 100 lawsuits pending against the W.T. No, the problem doesn't seem to be going away. And this is probably only scratching the surface. This should make them "sit up and take notice."

Then god must be on the Catholics side.......they've been around awhile. So had buddism, and hinduism.

Not to be negative, but I don't think God will have a say in whether they fall or not......he never stopped the killing christians for centuries.

Personally, I thought the interview went nicely! The MORE exposure of the WTS wicked ways----the better. The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather ain't exactly chopped liver, ya know!

The more the networks allow these interviews, the more doubt on the WTS "honesty" or their "respectability" will be questioned, not only by the JWs themselves, but those having home "bible" studies and THEIR friends and relatives, and all those "householders" who happened to catch this newscast......the possibilities are endless!

There is also talk that "DATELINE" is considering doing a followup segment to last year's WTS's Pedophile Problem show.

Watch OUT Watchtower, your lies and deception are catching up with you. It will be INTERESTING to see you try and slither out of THIS!

    Amen, Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!

The more the news covers , the more people will really hear. I know if it were me,,,,,,,,I wouldnt let a JW in my front door ever! I would probably ask them about it to their face as they tried to preach to me.

I know , especially right now with the war and all,,,,,,,so many people are turning on their news. Soon there will not be a soul that hasnt heard the JW child abuse scandle. And it is just beginning.

What makes me feel so good about this is,,,,,,,, there is no way the WT will get away with it,,,,,,, it will keep coming out , more and more as was stated this is only the beginning of what is really to be seen and heard.

Personally I was in a very small, small congregation as an adult and I found out , about a sexual child abuse case that shock me to my knees. It was also incest. Can you imagine, how sick that is,,,,,, all of it is sick but incest is also coming out more and more within the JW organization.

About 10 years ago a sister I know, told me of so many cases of incest within the organization that were going on down South Louisiana. There were others who came up to visit her, that I met who backed her story up. Even as faithful witnessses they admitted how bad the incest problem is down south and has been for years.

    Kenneson,

: The segment claimed that the W.T. acknowledges there is a problem and sent a letter to the elders telling them where there is a law on reporting to the authorities they must do so even if there is only one witness.

Don't you see the fatal flaw in this? The WTS is not interested in protecting the children UNLESS the "law" tells them to do so. If the law does NOT tell them to do so then the child is toast and the child-rapist gets to remain in good standing, unless of course, the rapist brought along a friend to witness the rape and who was willing to testify against his rapist friend.

The WTS is absolutely INSANE and THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN! What could be more obvious? They do not give a rap about the little children. If they did, they would make it mandatory for ALL claims by children of abuse to be handed over to the authorities who know how to deal with it. They are so full of themselves that they think they know best. 120 years of failed prophecies, yet....they know best. Decades of cover-ups and denials of what they said in the past, yet....they know best. Hunting down and railroading dissenters or even alleged dessenters and ruining their lives without evidence, yet.... they know best.

Send them to the hell they have created for themselves, I say.

Exactly. I have been bringing this issue up in other threads. This angers me....that the people think that they heard a change in the way things are handled because most people probably assume that it is a LAW to report! Not. I am still wondering just how many states it is a law in. Does anyone know? I am thinking it's only 13, but that sounds ridiculous. Anyone?

I think there are 22 States that require Clergy to report molestation accusations to the Authorities, but I'm not 100% sure -- Bill Bowen sent an E-Mail about a month ago explaining which States had it and which didn't-- I'll try to post that E-Mail soon.

Below is the Watchtower Letter that was quoted on CBS (I have edited this Letter to correct the spelling errors):

The following Letter was read to All Congregations in the United States in response to NBC DATELINE, right before DATELINE aired on Television on May 28th, 2002:

TO ALL CONGREGATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES

    Dear Brothers:

At Psalm 144:15 we read: "Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!" We see the truthfulness of this inspired statement when we associate with our brothers and sisters at conventions, assemblies, and congregation meetings. We enjoy a warm atmosphere of peace while we benefit from fine spiritual encouragement from Jehovah and his organization. (Psalm 29:11) What a contrast to those of the world who lack true spiritual guidance and a solid hope for the future! --Isaiah 65:13.

What enables us to maintain our happy spirit? For one thing, we fear Jehovah and we deeply respect the admonition in His Word, including what the Bible says on sexual matters. (1 Corinthians 6:9,10; Hebrews 13:4) At first, it was not easy for some of us to bring our lives into harmony with Jehovah's elevated standards. We had to make significant changes in our lifestyle before we could qualify for membership in Jehovah's clean, spirit-directed organization. Was it worth the effort? Absolutely! How happy we are to be living in harmony with God's righteous requirements!

In recent weeks, the press in this country has focused attention on the way accusations of child abuse are handled by various religious organizations. Such reports may cause some sincere individuals to ask about the procedures followed by Jehovah's Witnesses. Therefore, we believe that it will be beneficial to review with you our Bible-based position, so that you will "know how you ought to give an answer" to any who may inquire.--Colossians 4:6.

Simply stated, we abhor the sexual abuse of children and will not protect any perpetrator of such repugnant acts from the consequences of his gross sin. (Romans 12:9) We expect the elders to investigate every allegation of child abuse. Even one abused child is one too many. However, in evaluating the evidence, they must bear in mind the Bible's clear direction: "No single witness should rise up against a man respecting any error or any sin .... At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good." (Deuteronomy 19:15) Later, this requirement to consider testimony of two or three witnesses was confirmed by Jesus. (Matthew 18:16) Thus, although they investigate every allegation, the elders are not authorized by the Scriptures to take congregational action unless there is a confession or there are two credible witnesses. However, if two persons are witnesses to separate incidents of the same kind of wrongdoing, their testimony can be deemed sufficient to take action.--1 Timothy 5:19, 24, 25.

What if someone is a proven child molester? The article "Let Us Abhor What is Wicked!" published in the January 1, 1997, issue of The Watchtower had this to say on page 29: "For the protection of our children, a man known to have been a child molester does not qualify for a responsible position in the congregation. Moreover, he cannot be a pioneer or serve in any other special, full-time service." We take such decisive action because we are concerned with maintaining Bible standards and protecting our children. (1 Timothy 3:2, 9, 10) Everyone in the organization is expected to meet the same requirements, namely, to be clean physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually.--1 Corinthians 7: 1; Ephesians 4:17-19; 1 Thessalonians 2:4.

We have long instructed elders to report allegations of child abuse to the authorities where required by Law to do so, even where there is only one witness. (Romans 13:1) In any case, the elders know that if the victim wishes to make a report, it is his or her absolute right to do so.--Galatians 6:5.

At least since 1981, articles have been published in our journals, The Watchtower and Awake!, with a view to educating Jehovah's people and the public on the need to protect children from child abuse. Besides the above-quoted article, there was the article, "Help For the Victims of Incest," which appeared in the October 1, 1983, Watchtower. Awake! has featured such articles as "Your Child is in Danger!" "How Can We Protect Our Children?," and "Prevention in the Home" (October 8, 1993) as well as "Child Molesting-Every Mother's Nightmare," in its January 22, 1985 issue.

We believe that we have a strong, Bible-based policy on child abuse. Over the years, as we have noted areas where our policy could be strengthened, we have not hesitated to follow through. At Kingdom Ministry Schools the elders receive ongoing reminders regarding this policy and related matters. And we continue to urge the elders to follow closely the procedures that we have established.

The moral cleanness of the congregation continues to be of vital concern to the "faithful and discreet slave." (Matthew 24:45) As we keep applying Scriptural principles in our lives, our happiness will increase. We trust that these reminders will be helpful to you as you share the Kingdom hope with right-hearted ones. We have much to look forward to in the way of spiritual refreshment as we attend the "Zealous Kingdom Proclaimers" District Conventions. What a happy prospect! Yes, there is no doubt about it: "Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!"--Psalm 144:15.

    Your brothers,

    Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

Note to the presiding overseer: Please have this letter read at the first Service Meeting following its receipt. The letter should be read by one of the elders. All Scriptures that are cited but not quoted should be read.
