I think this is pertinent in regards to why people continue to do it today if they are not Jews like you said. Now, this mostly pertains to the US, since folks in Europe don't really do it, but again, with so many American religious christian zealots around, the question remains valid.

Why do it? If there is any physical advantage of doing this, then why didn't God think of this? Are these folks saying that they know better than God?

Perhaps as part of the "imperfection, cookie mold dent" aka bad mutation, the penis / foreskin size ratio reached a point where the foreskin did not allow full erection.? ouch.

Corrective surgery would only hurt once, and stayed around as a preventative procedure cloaked as a holy hallmark.

    that would be painful!!

I think it predates monotheism cos most ancient cultures make marks on their bodies - ear piercings, nose piericings, face painting and marking ...circumcision may be something like that - interesting that it is confined to the middleast

Circumcision started with Abraham and was for his descendants only. Why would Christians want to do it?

If you're looking for oddities of the human body to disprove creation then the foreskin is way down the list!

The Bible says that God made it as a sign or as a covenant with Abraham. Buy why Circumcision?

A sign to whom? Surely they didn't go around "wagging it" for all to see to determine if they were part of the group.

This circumcision requirement, along with the Red Heifer, is a head scratcher.

I love trying to get to the reasoning and symbolism behind them.

One would have to admit cutting off lose skin on the end of a man's penis is a strange way to make that person in a personal covenant with a tribe's god is bit weird.

    .......but then again

Exactly, what I thought too, how to prove, did they have show and tell meetings?

Before I was awake I didn't circumcise my boys because as true Christians were no longer under that law covenant. Now that I'm awake I found that before Abraham existed if he even did the Egyptians were already preforming this act of male circumcision as seen on the wall of one of thier temples.

So the Abrahamic covenant was nothing special and didnt make his offspring unique. What it maybe showing is infact the connection of Abrahams god with that of maybe an Egyptian god.
