Question at what point is my computer an apple open to anything once I opened the first email from th elders? the list of all the emails, opened, but password number still sitting there.? If they can control my camera (taped over) what else can be controlled while they are at it?
Hope they are compelled to read 20 years of unexpected comments they never hear at the hall.
WOW - the Zoom stock was pretty good - I think it's still a recommended one. Maybe not as of last week.
@Simon - My point was from the admin of the group chat, that they can't turn your camera on. I can request someone to do it, but I can't turn it on. The average person isn't going to know how to get around measures to turn it on, so your congregation elder won't either. I don't see the grand conspiracy here that many are intimating.
As far using zoom in the context of the jws, just tape over your camera while using.
Here are some , but not all of the massive security flaws with zoom. A "regular non tech person" may not be able to "hack your camera" but a fairly novice "hacker could" especially after a quick research and implementation of a few tools on the internet readily available for the common Joe. Since I guarantee the wtbs has a top notch IT department , I would air on the side of caution. Caution not paranoia.
I said this in 2009 about web cameras, and I was vilified for it by the psychiatric facility that I got therapy from. One month later, they all had tape on their cameras, because it hit the news. Along with a huge apology letter to me. I almost sued the shit out of them. The only reason, ONLY, reason was because so many relied on their services. My attorney was angry I didn't press forward. Anyway, that was a little different but the premise is the same.

I'm sorry, there is no way that I am going to have a live camera in my home unless I actually want it (some on-line training classes in my home office).
If they insist on having the video open, I can photoshop some WT pics of Jesus and then show him wearing a bath robe thing they used to wear and let them see that.
What can they say ... that he (or me) should have shaved and put on a suit?

I can see zoom getting yanked out. 🤣 This might be the last straw for some JWs. Thinking ones, that is.

@RubaDub - You don't have to apologize to me, I don't care if you have your camera on or not. I'm just telling you what the options are from someone that uses it most days. Don't want it on? Don't do it. I'm not part of the cult and just shared my experience using it. I wouldn't go to their garbage on video or off it. You do you within the circumstances you live in. Good luck with it. I wouldn't want to play these games either.
