"" If they were busy doing things that build their feelings of self worth"",,,, then this undermines the whole purpose of the self-serving Borganization.

The Borg cant have people taking care of their own needs first. Its all Jehovah( organization) first then your needs a distant 2nd.

Yes. Also the Borg needs this complex of backstabbing others & ratting on others. It keeps people under their control.

they said they would not correct it. I had to "wait on Jehovah

I heard that B.S. more than I care to remember.

Elders have to back elders even when they are wrong.

My now deceased father was an elder in the manner of what some have termed a JW heavy. He was not typical though. He was one that the other elders hated because so many of the lowly and downtrodden would come to him for help when they were mistreated. He also was not afraid to refuse to back any elder at any level in the JW's if they were wrong. as he taught me "There is no wrong way to be right, and no right way to be wrong". I still have people come to me and tell me how he helped them.

My opinion: if I were twice the man I am, I'd still be half the man he was. And that wasn't because of any JW beliefs, it was because that's the kind of man he was by nature.

The so-called "spiritual brotherhood of love" is nothing more than a front. The truth is, it's an organization built on judgment and gossip, something the Watchtower itself created. Their rules, procedures, and way of life are all about maintaining the appearance of being perfect—perfect people, perfect families, all to make it into the new system. What's asked of members is so unrealistic that it creates a culture where people are quick to point out anyone's weaknesses or mistakes, just so they can look like heroes in front of the congregation. Their preaching about being a loving brotherhood is, in reality, far from the truth and quite the opposite.

"told by an jw elder it was a rule not to gossip or swear as it could harm someone,"

What? You had to be told by an elder that? Didn't your mother tell you not to talk about others? If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all? If people rely on the elders to learn that they shouldn't gossip, then manners have really gone away.

"What? You had to be told by an elder that?"

Didn't your mother tell you to let someone finish a sentence before jumping on them in condemnation? The second half of the sentence concludes:

"but i guess the new light allows this"

Nice try making it about yourself, Rattigan, but the OP's point stands.

Would you have preferred her to frame it more as "As JWs, we were always told to do X, but now they seem to allow Y"?

You're being a bit nitpicky today.
