"We visited a Hall yesterday – that truly looked like a 1970’s funeral home!  It had everything but the organ music and the corpse!  Very dated, unappealing façade, poor layout, leaky roof – not a place you would feel proud to invite an interested bible student – however the brother showing us around reminded us that this particular Hall is the best building in the neighborhood – and nicer than all the homes near there – so it’s all relative. Wow"

The WT is slowly mainstreaming to placing importance on buildings that look nice, instead of the early Christian idea of meeting in humble homes; this worship of buildings is an attitude they ridiculed non-stop over the years.

"Why is it called LOCAL  design/ construction committee, if all the designing is already done cookie-cutter style at central?"

Because they are the embodiment of the Party from 1984? Perfect doublespeak.

Yes WT is just a property company. I can't believe the brother who wrote this email is so blind to the obvious strategies of the WT to acquire more properties and then sell them off for huge profits.

In our circuit, a KH has been sold that accommodated two congs. Now the elderly and single parents have to trek miles every week to meetings.

There isn't even one direct bus from the territory  to the KH, so if they don't have transport travelling to and from meetings will take them longer than the actual meeting.

This email is spreading nonsense and it's just a smoke screen to gain more property for WT and free labour doing them up ready for sale.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Sounds like a great BUSINESS model to me. FREE labor, discounted materials, 'loan' the money to the local to buy, the locals repay the 'loan' and the wtbts still owns the property. Brilliant! LCD or RBC makes no difference.

    just saying!

Well, I will be watching. A JWN member recently shared a "rumor" that the WTBTS will start consolidating congregations and selling off Kingdom Halls.

When I read this post, I said, "AHA!!!! Let the property appraisals begin!" These crews are simply free labor, created to survey Kingdom Halls!

THINK ABOUT IT: What costs are involved in the Real Estate business as far as travel, documentation/paper work, training individuals to be competent in appraising a property?

These people are unpaid, voluntary workers, willing to work long hours in advancing "Kingdom Interests".

In this time of the end Jehovah’s people will be the largest property owners in the world

Well, at least they are up-front about the financial goals of the organization.

However, the word "delusional" comes to mind.....

Training CO-like reps to tour the country looking for real estate investments? Priority Much?

I'm SO sure they will be choosing property based on which is closer to where the little old widow sisters live. LOL! These gullible fairy-tale-believing do-gooders are hilarious. (The WT manipulation is shameful though)
