I came upon the idea for this topic in backward fashion.

Not long ago, someone was attributing greatness to one of us
because of all that one had done to bring about the end of The
Tower. It got me to thinking…

After thinking for a while, it came to me that the person who
has done the most to bring about the demise of the Watchtower
Bible and Tract Society (other than the writers of the stupid
book and magazine articles) is the Nobleman himself, Sir Raymond
Franz. I think this fact is pretty much beyond dispute.

Don't get me wrong… others, many others, have surely done their
part. It's just that, imo, no one has done as much. Then I had the
thought that what he has done in bringing down The Holy Terror
is only penance, recompense, for the number of those he brought
in, those who are STILL in. He was (is) a gifted writer, and the
thought occurred to me that handfulls, scores, hundreds… thousands
maybe, are loyal Dubs to this day because of having been persuaded
by his words, whether written in the literature or spoken at countless
    events all over the world.

    So I wondered:

Since we've come to know the REAL truth about The Truth, is there
any that we left behind? Any that we personally had a hand in turning
into loyal Dubs? People that won't speak to us now, now that we have
become 'apostate'? People that we studied with that view us as dead.

My instincts tell me you are correct in your labeling of Raymond Franz.

Tina, were you not aware of the whole congregation involved in the disciple-making process? Yes: The one who conducted the study. The one who gave the Bible student a friendly welcome to the Kingdom Hall. The one who set a good example at school/work. Just because you never had a study dipped doesn't mean ur free from community responsibility.

I think its important to remember that its not the fault of teejay or anyone else. We are the victims. We were unsuspecting individuals who were lured, or even forced in. Now that we have broken free and realize that what happened to us is wrong, we want to lead everyone out because we care about them.

Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do. No one is going to come out until they are ready. It would be unfair to ourselves to feel that it is our fault. Remember: we are the victims.

I am grateful that anyone I studied with never got very far. I was telling an old high school friend I would no longer be a jw and she said, "hey, you tried to make me go!" And I replied, yeah, but now I know better, and I'm sorry about that. So glad she never listened to me.

At least "forced in" was certainly the case with me, Prof! I was born into the "Truth" and was never afforded the opportunity of informed choice and was simply a WTBTS by-product of its selective informational conditioning.

I think I stumbled more than I helped in! And those I did help were such emotional criples I think they needed it just to survive.

Some are duped, some need it and some just plain deserve it!

sorry tms,I don't feel responsible. I am not responsible for choices others make in their lives. My leaving had more of an impact that anything I did as a dub. Several close friends who shared similar concerns and issues, left right after I did-I was an 'ice-breaker' for them.Tina

same here, Tina. for many years it bothered me that i
never brought anyone into the truth, but now i'm happy
as heck that i had no hand in someone (an entire family?)
into the organization now. especially since they probably
    wouldn't associate with me now.
