Sandie. Be aware this is not a Jehovahs-witness sight but consists of dissatisfied ex's.
Can you answer my questions, please?

I want to clarify that I don't agree with the WT teachings in any of the three areas -- the importance of organization, the nature of Christ, or lack of assurance of salvation.
My comments above are in response to the questions in the OP as to why JWs believe as they do in these areas.

Hi Again Sandie,
I take it that you are an evangelical Christian. You won't get into a JW forum for debate if that's what you are after. I've tried. The key criteria is that you accept the faithful slave and Jehovah's visible organization for that to happen.
But there are active JWs marking time on this forum such as Scholar and Fisherman. So stick around, there is hope yet for dialog with people who believe the Bible and are convinced that they alone are Christians and as such have a scriptural hope of surviving Armageddon.

Sandie:
1. Can Jehovah's Witnesses practice faith with the Bible as a guide, or is it crucial to include the teachings of the Watchtower Society?
The Bible itself has not changed in over 2000 years, but the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses have changed constantly from their beginning - the religion is only about 143 years old and is virtually unrecognizable compared to the early days (known as International Bible Students then. The name Jehovah's Witnesses came in 1931).
It's what the Watchtower Organization says that counts, not the Bible, but they will NEVER acknowledge this.
Vanderhoven:
You will have a great time here with Ex-JW Atheists, Agnostics, Jehovah's Witnesses and several evangelical Christians.
I love the mix. Getting different points of view is something that Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to do, per the directives of their organization's leaders (the Governing Body).

#1. JW`s, the r&f have to rely on the interpretation the Governing body puts on scriptures ,they don`t beleive you can read the Bible on your own without them to get the true meaning conveyed in the Bible.
#2. This all relates to how you / they interpret the bible passages in question
#3. Do Jehovah's Witnesses have assurance of salvation?
No they don`t , and this also relates to how they interpret the bible passages in question.
To answer your 3 questions in one sweep is to understand the JW religion is a dictatorial religion ,it is our way or the highway ,if you don`t agree with the GB to the letter ,you wont be accepted as a practicing Jehovah`s Witness.

2. How do you explain the biblical passages that claim Jesus is God? How do you explain His own claims to be God?
The Bible does not present Jesus as God. Jesus did not claim to be God. He claimed to be God's son, stating that his father was greater than he.
