Think about it: they had to go out and buy Halloween paraphernalia, then apply makeup & costumes to dress the 'brothers & sisters' up as vampires, witches, mummies etc. and you know they were probably joking around the whole time. What a bunch of hypocrites, the last gen GB would be turning in their graves to see such a photoshoot at the 'house of God' 😆

Probably the most fun they had all year.

    What a bunch of hypocrites,

VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, WITCHES, ZOMBIES: These creatures have long been associated with the evil spirit world.

Celebrations like Halloween are in conflict with Bible teachings. The Bible warns: “There must never be anyone among you who . . . practices divination, who is soothsayer, augur or sorcerer, who uses charms, consults ghosts or spirits, or calls up the dead.”—Deuteronomy 18:10, 11, The Jerusalem Bible; see also Leviticus 19:31; Galatians 5:19-21.

    sor·cer·er - a person who claims or is believed to have magic powers;

Can JWs go to Disney's MAGIC KINGDOM? Can they wear theses costumes?

Tinkerbell, a fairy - a small imaginary being of human form that has magical powers, especially a female one

Ariel, a mermaid - a fictitious or mythical half-human sea creature with the head and trunk of a woman and the tail of a fish

Genie (from Aladdin) - a spirit of Arabian folklore, frequently depicted as being imprisoned within a bottle or oil lamp and as being capable of granting wishes when summoned.

Fairy Godmother (from Cinderella) - has magical powers

Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, and Maleficent (4 fairies sleeping beauty) - have magical powers

Duran, that brought many points of contradiction when I was a jw. Some were overly righteous and complained about everything, or complained about this but went to Disney World every year, even during the Christmas season. Somehow the magic of Tinkerbell is acceptable and that in the Lord of the Rings is not...

Yep, my wife's family are big time JWs and all through her years growing up they could go to Disney's MAGIC KINGDOM and watch Disney movies but could not watch the Smurfs.

    Tinkerbell

    Smurfette

My parents wouldn't let me see Casper the friendly Ghost or Bewitched,

    but let me see

    The Wizard of Oz.

Go figure. I think if the Characters sing, it's ok.

I remember in the 80s, some JWs had issues with Dragonslayer and Willow, but not with Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.

I’d call ‘em out on it, and they could never really give an adequate explanation why.

    🙄

Is this WT-Halloween costume-dress event a rehearsal or for performance in the orgs filming production? Was it mockery or they were just having FUN - yeah!

My jw borrowed a movie pre jw days and the very next year (he joined the cult in that year) me & kids were watching the next movie in series and he was "so disappointed, did we really have to watch it?" me- "Hell yes, we had to see how it came out in the end! Thanks for turning us onto the series!" He must have shook his head in disgust the entire way to his meeting. We just giggled all the more because of it
