" All of us must be ready to obey instructions whether or not these seem strategic from a human standpoint or not".

In other words sell your homes expensive cars & belongings & ""give the money to us"". Because you no longer need them.

    Blind obedience.

Religions. Will never stop at this tactic. In guilting & demanding $$$ from their followers.

It never stops. It will never,, stop.

As long as religions can convince their victims that,, ""He"" needs more,, religion will stop at nothing.

They dont ever realize that,, there is nothing human beings have,, which God doesn't have !!

My grandmother was an educated professional with a 50 year caerer. She became a jw after retirement. She donated quite a bit of money to the local congregation and was horrified when it was sold up and they were all told to go elsewhere to attend meetings.

How much inheritance/ retirement fund money does the WT use to fight CSA cases I wonder?

Beth many religions use money donated for work in the community or actual upkeep of buildings . The Church of England building that attend is a 160yr old stone building which is quite expensive to keep going .

However many people who never contribute want the Church building available for Baptisms , Weddings and Funerals when it suits them .

Also we run a Place of Welcome group for ANYONE who wants to come and have refreshments and company.

Plus an Mom's ( Dad's, Grans, Grandads) and under 5 group . Also a Knit and Natter Group for anyone to attend

They do not have to be Church members, these groups are for the benefit of the community.

In addition we support overseas charities like Aytuliah which helps women in India to get out of the sex trade and learn skills to get legitimate work .

Please do not view all religions through the prism of the WT .

I didn’t mean to say that there wasn’t manipulation involved in this case or in other cases of strangers extracting money from vulnerable old people. That happens often, and in clear cut cases people can be prosecuted under the law. What I mean to say is that sometimes older people do things with their money that their children disapprove and in some cases this is motivated by the fact the children think the money would be better spent on them. This can include donating to Watchtower. If older people and parents want to give their money to Watchtower that’s their choice even if you think it’s a poor choice. You might argue, “if they knew what I know they wouldn’t give the money”, therefore Watchtower are getting the money under false pretences. Maybe, but maybe not. Some JWs continue to believe in the religion despite listening to information against their religion. Others refuse to listen to any such information. That’s a choice too. We don’t need to like a choice in order to recognise they have a right to make their own choice.

As the baby boomers steadily die off there commences an almighty tussle over the accumulated capital gains of the most financially fortunate generation in history. Watchtower is making a case for getting some of that money and their children reasonably believe they have a claim on the money too. Ultimately, under most legal and moral frameworks it’s up to the individual how they dispose of their assets regardless of the wishes and views of others.

It is pounded to use unrighteous money for good (WT). We boomers mostly want to leave a nestegg for our kids. And we witlesses ain't that rich.

I will credit one (only) elder who told a well off widow to useher money for a medicine food and luxuries because the WT has more money than they know what to do with. She felt a strip steak instead of burger was wasting God's money

Too many people think they’re entitled to their parents’ money, and get very annoyed if they start spending it instead, is another side of the story.

I agree with you on that. No one is owed anything, however what Watchtower is doing with their “conditional loan arrangement” is plain and simply fraud.
