......Jesus comes in somewhere between ministerial servant and female pioneer, off the top of my head
Often thought along these lines... Actually, in the past I think they did honour Jesus more, certainly the old anointed bros of my childhood would speak of "The Lord" in warm terms . It was not Jehovah they meant but Jesus with whom they felt a special bond.
It was JFR who coined the organization's name in the mid '30s as the Great Crowd were identified in their beliefs.
As others have said, the Bible says, All the Judging is delegated to the Son( John ch 5) and it is he who seperates the sheep from the goats (Matt 25) . Furthermore "In the name of Jesus every knee should bend (Php. 2)
At one time we they used to use the expression 'Jehovah's Christian Witnesses ' .That was a bit better.
C.T Russell and the magazine he started was called "Zions Watchtower and Herald Of Christs Presence ",
he was witnessing about Jesus Christ and his Kingdom , not Jehovah and so were his followers back then .
And they would have still been doing so when in 1918-19 they were supposedly approved by Jesus Christ as the Faithful and discreet Slave Class.
Somewhere in Acts it says the name of 'Christian' was chosen in Divine providence. The JWs have for the most part lost sight of Jesus and the basic identity of Christianity.
There was a WT article a while ago that re-emphasized the hierarchy for the Sheeple. The GB and their boardroom got top billing, so to speak, and Jesus was barely featured in the watchtarded illustrations. No accident there...

Jehovah`s Witnesses claim to be Christians but have with no New Testament backing usurped Jesus with Jehovah.
There are two core doctrines the JWS tried to establish , one being that Jesus is not god which most Christian religions profess, the other is that they have actively made themselves apostate false prophets, preaching a tainted commercialized gospel of Jesus.
The JWS proclaimed that the established Christian faiths were practicing unrighteous inaccurate worship and praise to the son rather than to the father Jehovah (Yahweh)
This to them was taken as they are more righteous in the eyes of god and because of that will receive his blessings and the other Christian faiths will break down and be destroyed.
- feel free to correct me where I`m wrong with this post. –
- The Bible never says anything about a Kingdom of Jehovah –
44 “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom+ that will never be destroyed.+
9 “You must pray, then, this way:+ “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name+ be sanctified.+ 10 Let your Kingdom+ come. Let your will+ take place, as in heaven, also on earth
- Christians are to give honour and glory to none other than Jesus Christ . That is the name that is above any other name until God says otherwise. Phil.2:9-11 Not the name Jehovah .-
31 And look! you will become pregnant* and give birth to a son,+ and you are to name him Jehoshua (יהושע) - Jehoah (יהוה) is Salvation
22 For the Father judges no one at all, but he has entrusted all the judging to the Son,+ 23 so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him
31 When,
therefore, he had gone out, Jesus said: “Now the Son of man is glorified,+ and God is glorified in
connection with him.* 32 God himself
will glorify him,+ and he will glorify him
immediately.
1 Jesus spoke these things, and raising his eyes to heaven, he said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your son so that your son may glorify you,+ 2 just as you have given him authority over all flesh,+ so that he may give everlasting life+ to all those whom you have given to him.+ 3 This means everlasting life,+ their coming to know you, the only true God,+ and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.+ 4 I have glorified you on the earth,+ having finished the work you have given me to do.+ 5 So now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was.+ 6 “I have made your name manifest* to the men whom you gave me out of the world.+ They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. 7 Now they have come to know that all the things you gave me are from you; 8 because I have given them the sayings that you gave me,+ and they have accepted them and have certainly come to know that I came as your representative,+ and they have believed that you sent me.
20 “I make request, not concerning these
only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word, 21 so that they may all be one,+ just as you, Father, are in union with me
and I am in union with you,+ that they also may be in union with us,
so that the world may believe that you sent me.
johnamos,
You have it in John 5:23. We are to honor the Father and the Son. Following that we are to confess the Son as my Lord and my God John 20:28. JW org does not do that.
johnamos
Thank you for those references ,I can only conclude that the Bible speaks out of both sides of its mouth if you know what I mean ,the Bible can be interpreted many ways depending on what you want to believe ..
Probably that`s why there are over 40 thousand different sects of Christianity who all claim to accept the one Bible.?
In a nutshell; the name "Jehovah" came into being roughly 1,000 years after Constantine I ordered the Bible be made. It is a made up name from about the 12th or 13th century that took the tetragrammaton (YHWH) and combined the vowel structure of the word Adonai ("Lord"). The Latinized name was translated to German and then German to English which gives us the final man-made product - Jehovah.
Pretty much all the names in the Bible have been changed from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to German to English. Because certain sounds do not exist in certain languages there have been some noticeable changes to names. That's how we get the English Jesus because there is no Y sound in Greek.
