You're going to do just fine Sheila. Just take this one step at a time. Focus as much as you can on the material without feeling it. You've got great material here. Just trust it and yourself.

And remember, >breathe in breathe out<

    Sheila...I'm so proud of you.

Good for you for sticking to this presentation.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the beginning of this thread: tornadoes

I read further down the thread... tornadoes.

Sheila, I'm having kittens up here. Be safe, and I'm glad to have read that your family are all well.

Anyways, of course I know you'll share with us how things went with your speech/presentation.

Be safe.....or I'll be FREAKED OUT!

    Sheila,

How exciting for you. Butterflies are totally natural. Here is a tip I got from someone else. About two hours before your speech, take some baking soda, and mix with a glass of water and drink it all down. This is supposed to be a natural helper in times of any type of stress.

When you get up to face your audience, try to breathe normally, look around, smile--check out your audience for three or four people who you can connect with as you speak. Find them quickly, by looking left, looking right, and then someone around center. Say something and pause. Give them something to think about. Smile. Breathe.

Your audience waits in anticipation for your words. Take your time. There is no rush. Give them pause to take in what you say. Let them think, then move on. When you finish, look up and smile. A relaxed and friendly speaker makes the audience feel a part of the event.

I haven't given a speech in a long time, but what an excileration it was when I did.

    ENJOY the moment.

    Good Luck Sheila.

Sentinal has some very good advice there.

A relaxed and friendly speaker makes the audience feel a part of the event.

The anger you felt in composing your speech, should not overflow into your delivery. When that happens, people may tend to feel uncomfortable, and label you as " disgruntled " ( sorry, Society term ). Which of course you are and should be, but try not to let that impede the message you are trying to convey.

    Looking forward to your update.

Wow, Sheila that's an awesome speech. xjw is right, don't have anger in your speech, have a calm, mild spirit in delivering it. You catch more bees with honey

    Good luck.

Take a deep breath, exhale, relax, and when it's all done go home put your feet up, pour yourself some wine, and have a wonderful weekend.

    love
