My Wife is Mad at Me

So all last week our Instagram was lit up with our JW relatives "Don't Give Up" Assembly photos , their assembly outfits etc and how wonderful the reminders and encouragement was.

This weekend our Instagram is lit up with photos of a huge crowd of our JW relatives and fellow congregation members who went to the Maroon 5 "Whiskey Tour" concert.

Everyone was being polite by making comments like "Oh...I'm so Jealous !" "Have fun Guys !!" "Can't wait till they come to our town" etc.

And then there's me....I said " Looks like this weekend it's the "Maroon 5 Don't Give Up, "Whiskey Tour" LOL ! "

Even though the person making the post "liked" my comment, my wife who insists on tip toeing around her JW families sensibilities, said my comment was inappropriate. I thought it was funny and harmless.

Meh, it was truthful.

The irony is.

Even though JW`s spend their lives pounding on doors, to preach The Truth.

They don`t like to hear the truth.

I think it's funny. Sounds like a comment I would make. I don't tip toe anymore. I don't care what family thinks about my "spirituality (aka JW tasks)."

Love your sense of humor - I'd say it would have gone over the heads of most of them.

I was one who always made cheeky comments like this , for instance when prince passed a few of my then friends were saying " the band in the new system just got another member , can't wait to jam with him in the new system etc " puke puke I said you guys will be in the line for new system idol ...didn't go down to well, after I left I found out just how sensitive everyone is to any form of sarcasm or poking fun ...all the comments I had made over the years were recounted by various ones ...soooo sensitive

I went to the RV. That was my standard joke. "I was going to cut out drinking then I saw the theme ,'Don't give up', so I won't". Most people laughed.

Hope there are no repercussions on the home front for you from your upset wife.

Not at all...she's on board with the irony. One weekend they're saying "Hold on....the end is almost here" and the next weekend they can take time away from spreading the important life saving message to pay big bucks to attend a concert put on by people they consider to be dead meat once Armageddon comes. She's mostly envious that I have the "huevos" to say it out loud .

That is so true....there's a certain extra smugness that goes along with those who think they are on the cutting edge of the music and entertainment scene and super spiritual at the same time. Typically one cancels the other out.

I stopped tip toeing around family years ago, and they're not even JWs. Life is too short. Have fun!

It's hard for JWs to laugh at anything having to do with the WT for fear of the 2As -- apostasy and Armageddon.
