I remember how some Witnesses started feeling guilty about having a time consuming pet. The Organization was saying how such pets were distracting us from the more important things.

Did Jesus have a dog? Evidently not. But he DID have a pet flea.
After they had withdrawn, look! Jehovah’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: “Get up, take the young child and its mother and flee into Egypt,
Sorry, I know that is as old as dirt. I'll be here all week though, and don't forget to tip your servers.

What is the purpose of this question...what will it do to en-light anything? And how would it matter ? He could have anything he wanted...right? A dog would be better than most humans...right?
ASK the preteen why...then answer that question.

Minimus, Bobcat.....😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
I think Jesus was more of a bird guy myself.
Betcha he was like snow White in Shrek and could just whistle and have thousands of birds at his beck and call (or should that be "BEAK and call"). Probably where all that bread and fishes just appeared from!

may be the child really really wanted a dog, and the daily text was " follow his steps closely "
now, if it could be admittingly possible that the master had a dog. that would be a clinching argument.

Actually use a concordance and look up every verse in the bible where dogs are mentioned. Half the time they are unclean or insulting beasts or licking up the blood of cursed people. My personal favorite comment on dogs is in Proverbs 26:11 and 2 Peter. 2:22:
As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly
But there is only neutral comment on dogs in Proverbs: 26:17
He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

There was an experience where the couple simplified and she commented how much the discarded dog used to relieve stress.
I remember an elder who was upset we let the dog in the house. From comments by the circuit overseer about " no scripture " in a talk I am sure there was a complaint made. Dog # 6 is still inside.
