Bethel Status Update - Insider Information

I have some updates and new information on the downsizing in Bethel.

25% of all Bethelites around the world will be sent home. In the US over 1,000 will be sent home. This will be taking place from now until next September. I was told it was at a rate of 2 per day just in the US. They are all being told they will be "reassigned" into the preaching work.

House cleaning is getting axed. All Bethelites will now be in charge of cleaning 100% of their rooms. Apparently a lot are annoyed at this because it will all have to be done on their time and never during work hours or in place of any other service. They keep everything very clean for appearances so it will be a lot of extra work on each Bethalite as they see it.

A lot of the ones who work in the printing department are also being let go due to the reduction in magazine frequencies. Close to 50% less help is needed.

I have not been able to get a confirmation on the laundry department as of yet but it is not looking good for that department either.

I have it on good word that they are reworking everything at Bethel. All the assignments, positions etc... They are trying to get it more efficient and get rid of areas they don't technically need.

I already know of two getting sent home from US this month personally.

    More information to follow.

A 25% RIF is significant. Makes you wonder why they even need all the construction. They could run their business out of someone's basement.

They are still taking in young'uns. Someone from our congregation, age 19, just got accepted for a 1-year assignment.

So, just to make it clear, they are ridding themselves of lots of folks over age 40, those who have or potentially may have serious (and $$$expensive$$$) health issues, and replacing some of them with teenagers who will have virtually no health problems until they are used up and sent home themselves.

Bethel is becoming coldly efficient at chewing up and spitting out its most loyal adherents.

    Something ugly may well happen.

sir82 - you said it. Anyone who is expense, i.e. "medically expensive because of their age" is out the door!

Best laid plans: Get fully educated (Bachelors, even Masters, if one can afford it or deal with the debt afterwards) then apply to Bethel afterwards. Also, make sure the careers are S.T.E.M. related.

Funny how candidates that are barely dried up right after baptism get called in with full benefits if they happen to have careers the Org needs for their daily operations. It happened with a phycisian couple in my cong, then recently with an engineer guy that got called to Bethel almost right after his baptism.

Of course, not that we mean to advocate for higher education; all other nothing chumps with just a high school diploma, a swift kick in the tail and right out of here!

If true, housecleaning being axed could be is significant. As usual, follow the money. Do bethelites now have to purchase their own cleaning supplies? If so, then there's a large savings in the org not paying for supplies (chemicals, rags, soap/water used to wash the rags, vacuum cleaners, electricity used for vacuum cleaners, vacuum bags, maintenance on vacuum cleaners, etc.) Not that those will go away completely, but there will be a significant reduction, I'm guessing.

A young kid in our hall just went out to patterson, i was shocked knowing what is going on, I imagine he'll be headed home soon.

Its going to become more like the scientology version of bethel where volunteers are worked to death.
