What Do You Think Of Fining People For Not Wearing A Mask?

    Jesus fucking christ.

Today I went to pick up groceries at a local grocery chain. I wish I'd been doing this for a long time. You pick what you want on the internet, they get the shit ready and you pick it up. Easy.

Anyway, while I was waiting for the delivery, some pudgy old white dude was across the way, chain smoking ciggies, and glaring at me, obviously because I was wearing a mask. Maybe it was you Minimus?

Sooo, I'm wearing a mask because I recently had all the symptoms of the covid-19 virus but I can't be tested because I don't live in a shithole like South Korea. I'm wearing this mask to protect assholes like him, a cigarette smoking, overweight, old, douchebag.

At this point, where I live, the cops are stretched so thin that unless you kill someone, you pretty much just get a citation and go home.

Accordingly, if you are a patriotic old man, like Minimus, and decide to exercise your right to not wear a mask in public, cool. If you cough and or sneeze near me, I will consider that assault and reckless endangerment. I will exercise my patriotic right to defend and protect myself and my family . Hell, second amendment included(nice to be in a stand your ground state btw) . While you're in the ER being exposed to covid-19, I'll be home for dinner. Have a nice day!

I would not be as outspoken as Queequeeg, above....... but

If the U K government want us to wear masks , which largely protect others more than ourselves, I will do so. A lot of people do already. These are strange times . We have to accept some rules and restrictions on us, for the sake of the community.

In WW2 tbey had restrictions on freedom. E.g. those at home could not show a light from the window after dark . It was a blackout . If your curtains let light through or a chink showed , the ARP warden gave a last warning prior to a fine...We are in a war against this virus, we have to accept rules. Ss they used to say :

    "Don't you know there's a war on?"

    "a shithole like South Korea"

Are you sure that you aren't referring to that other Korea - the one north of the 38th Parallel?

South Korea is a modern, advanced country with one of the higher per capita GDPs in the world.

Get used to wearing masks, because when the 'flu season kicks off every year, it'll become Standard Operating Practice! The thousands who die from 'flu every year (despite having the 'flu vaccine) will have to be protected from all of us.

Don't go out of your house, don't go to school, don't go to work, don't visit elderly relatives at home or in hospital - the bogey-man will get you!

Why force quarrantine/house-arrest on millions of HEALTHY people? It has no scientific or medical justification - and is resulting in people's immune systems weakening/worsening.

Too many people are hoarding sand right now - so that they can bury their heads in it when reality hits.

Queenqueg, your comments made me lol.

Booger, some people don’t ever want to see their elderly relatives again so staying inside, never going to work and letting the government care for them is great!

Without getting in to all of the finer points of the whole mask-wearing situation, I will say that if a government is going to fine people for not wearing them then they need to provide plenty of free masks to enable their own law to be easy for people to fulfill.

Masks are dirty after use and need to be replaced often.

Masks are in short supply. They should have been recommended way back when this started, not now. It has always been a good idea to avoid sneezers, push buttons with a tissue. The precautions should also be reducing colds, " other" flu, all the airborne diseases

A side note; I see some restroom doors propped open now. My preference, being male, is the ones with just a blocking partition. Go in let the automatic eye flush and leave and never touch anything. I feel for women who cant pee this way.

Maybe the mask proponents should look at the defecating on the street in some cities.

I do wear a mask, dont sneeze on others, and am discrete about picking my nose. ,

I think people should wear masks, both to protect themselves and others.

But fines for not doing so? If masks were readily available I might have more sympathy for such hardline measures but when the powers-that-be were telling people a month earlier that masks did nothing, shouldn't be worn and shouldn't be purchased ... fuck them and their stupid laws.

They have no right to make such rules or to take people's money in such an economically uncertain time.

However, private stores should have the option to mandate that masks be work for visitors to their stores. It's simply a case of matching the people who don't want to or wear or don't have masks, to stores that don't feel they are necessary.

Again, the point of the precautions was to flatten the curve, not eradicate the virus. Politicians have lost the plot and we're being held hostage to their broken thinking.

No way are people going to continue with these draconian measures for 12+ months
