What Do You Think Of Fining People For Not Wearing A Mask?

If I go down the driveway to pick up my mail, and I’m outside I must wear a mask! Yet, if I live in a neighboring state , I don’t have the same regulation.

I guess it's like smoking weed. In Colorado, you're fine. Step across the line to Nebraska and you can be in jail.

That's just how it works with the 50 state thing that we use here. Live in a State in which nobody lives and you have much greater power.

I just want you guys to remember I agree it is fine if you want to endanger yourself. However, wearing a mask does not only protect you it protects others. It is not fine to endanger others. Your rights stop at the point where you start endangering the rights of others.

I could not agree more. This virus is not the typical type of ailment that normally has the most impact on the individual person.

Smoke, do meth, eat fried food every day, drink a bottle of bourbon every night, whatever. Those things will not generally endanger others, only yourself (yes, family can be affected but that is another issue).

But stupidly getting affected with COVID-19 and then going into a hospital and putting everyone in the building at risk is, IMO, criminal. If a person wants to take chances, great. Just stay at home when you get sick. Don't put the lives of people working at a hospital at risk with children at home and cleaning your bedpan making $15 an hour.

Get a Shop-Vac, go into your bedroom and use the exhaust port as your own ventilator. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy the experience while gasping for air.

OK I believe that the only way to make sure that I am not endangered is for you and everyone else to stay inside their homes, period. Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

I think the point on several posts was not about getting the virus. Putting oneself at risk is fine. The point was if you choose to expose yourself to the virus and you get it, that's OK. Then just stay away from others. People should then just stay away from hospitals, quarantine themselves with a Shop-Vac and not put others at risk.

Just on tv that a bandana is 15% effective. The N95 is ( wait for it) 95%, depending on particle size.

I am still advising a 99.9 one that will still allow facial recognition, but people will lump me in with Trump when some lowbrow does it.

As long as it’s a face covering it’s acceptable. Tee shirts, scarves, cloth towels, panties.... I’m positive this will make people not catch a virus.

A mask will not protect you unless it is of medical standard, properly fitted, changed VERY regularly, you NEVER touch it or touch your face, and you 'don and doff' it with utmost care.

In fact it will probably be counterproductive as most people will do none of the above.

However it will make it a little bit less likely that you will pass the virus on if you have it and you are pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic. I think it will be recommended in the UK if you are in a shop or on public transport where physical distancing is difficult or impossible.

I saw an elderly lady arrive home from the supermarket last week wearing rubber gloves. She struggled to get her key from her purse so she proceeded to use her teeth to pull each finger of her gloves one by one. She may as well have gone back to the shop and licked the keypad of the ATM. Gloves offer no more protection to the wearer than masks and possibly make it more likely they will get infected. Your skin is impervious to the virus.

Wash your hands, don't touch your face, respect physical distance and hope for the best.

A medical standard, properly fitted mask?

But the U.S. CDC says, "Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home
from common materials at low cost can be used."

The CDC would not ever make a mistake would they?
