Hence the delay, until after the AGM announcement.

    Thank you.

    Thank you!

What are these large construction projects I wonder? Poor kids who sign up, may their parents have the sense to dissuade them!

"Please encourage pressure all young ones and their parents in your congregation to consider the importance of establishing spiritual goals when young. Also, be alert to identify young ones who have the potential to serve at Bethel or on large scale construction projects..."

Whatever happened to the "spiritual heads" in family homes?

This is a directive for all JW's to guilt-trip teenagers & their parents - in the same way they pressure pre-pubescent kids to get baptised snared into the cult!

JW parents - get ready to tell folks to mind their own business regarding your kids!

What I also found surprising is that by attending a kingdom school for a couple of months one could become a missionary or a circuit overseer at 21 y.o.a.

KerryKing - I think the reference to "large construction projects" is a boilerplate reference that gets put in just for effect. There are no ongoing large projects at present that I have heard of.

So, what is the objective of this direction?

I personally think they are trying to simply reengage kids who are graduating. The number of young who are leaving is staggering, and they know that it bodes the total demise of the religion if they don't slow it down. Yet, they have nothing meaningful to offer these young folks as they leave school. What to do? What to do? What to do?

Answer: dangle something in front of them that sounds exciting, even if it doesn't actually exist.

You can become a missionary only if you agree to serve in another third-world country, not in your own country, and that too if you are able to prove that you can survive in the new country.

To become a CO, you need to be an elder for 2 consecutive years, attend the SKE, serve as a Temporary Special Pioneer in a need greater or problematic congregation, serve as subsitute CO for minimum 10 CO visits, and then if your regular CO approves, you become a CO yourself.

Thanks, Drearyweather for that comprehensive description. Some of I knew from my days long ago, but some are new to me. Thanks again, Blondie
