I think that ultimately it doesn't matter whether or not this investigation makes waves inside NZ congregations. I had my doubts that it would, judging by the lack luster response by Australian Brothers and Sister over theirs. No, what does matter though ... or what is good about it, is the dollar cost the Organization has lost in fighting it. That money is not coming back and it will mean more Kingdom Hall closures or more begging for funds. And those are things that the Brotherhood does see and react too.

I'm hoping that the WT gets angry at all these exposés by "Satan's world" and start writing to the R&F about how unjust it all is. I'm reminded of Cuba, a decade or so ago when estimates of Castro's personal wealth were being published in various media*. The Cuban government, instead of ignoring those articles, got all butthurt and published rebuttals in their local media. I imagine that many Cubans were, for the first time, exposed to the idea that "Castro is a billionaire", ironically by their own Castro apologists.
I'm hoping that the WT will rail similarly against the world's governments. Of course they might not be as honest(!) as the Cuban government were about what the issue is. We saw that with the Norwegian issue. Norway didn't like the disfellowshipping and shunning of minors, but the WT made it into "a threat against religious freedom". And Tony Morris said they'd never change the rules on disfellowshipping. And then they changed the rules on disfellowshipping, and nobody has seen hide nor hair of Tony for ages.
Please, WT, get angry and start denouncing the world's governments for their "attacks" on you before your own followers. Looking forward to it! 🤞🙏

I think outside the realm of the WTS and members and ex-members, the child sexual abuse problem in religions is see as a much larger problem than just the WTS, larger religious organizations, probably giving more attention to those religious groups. I try to remember that the fight child sexual abuse is more than religions but other larger groups like the Boy Scouts, and hiding it. I give my time and energy to fighting the larger problem supporting groups in my area. Children have to be protected regardless of who their abusers are. But since the WTS says they are the only true religion and lie about hiding sexual abuse of children, and jws are affected by the WTS, I understand the feeling that the WTS is wicked. But pedophiles are everywhere, and that danger should also be acknowledged and make sure pedophiles outside the WTS don't make victims of our children.

You're right, Blondie, that the other groups are larger and higher profile, and therefore attract more attention. I can't help feeling that the WT punches way above its weight statistically, though. Not that we'll ever really know what those statistics are. 🤥

Yes, NotFormer, but the goal should be to protect all children from sexual abuse. If laws were passed that affected all these religious groups as well as other places pedophiles try to hide out, all children would benefit, even those in the WTS. My state does not mandate reporting by religions or their representatives, other states do. The religions band together in the US to stop that from happening legally, although they cannot unite on much else.
