What other organization is there that is either embarrassed or ashamed of their past history that they feel they need to change it .
Surely that should tell us something about that organization.
Genuine legtitamit organizations are proud of their past history and want the world to know about it.

The question arrises: most of JW's (including myself) have been told over and over what happened in 1918 en 1919. Year after year, book after book, they instructed us what to think. Even with the exact dates for example in the Revelation books. If you didn't believe these events; you could be kicked out for being apostate and "knowing it better then the brothers".
I couldn't believe it sitting there. He went on and on saying how logical this new understanding was. He actually had the audience laughing aloud, guffawing even, at how "silly" (yes, an exact quote) it was to believe that 1918-19 represented Babylonish capitivity, that it didn't make any sense whatsoever.
It took every ounce of strength I had not to stand up, throw my iPad toward the stage and say, "Look at yourselves! You're openly laughing and knee slapping at how ridiculous and illogical this teaching was! A teaching we've held dear for decades; a teaching that, if I had rejected and instead proposed what we're studying today six months ago, I would have been labeled an apostate and disfellowshipped!"

99 years from now, there will be knee-slapping at the thought that only one overlap would be enough to get the anointed near to the end, which is the doctrine now.

One question I have. Is there any biblical reason to believe that the events that were recorded in the Bible long ago, are to have another or 2nd fulfillment in our modern day?
The only reason why people look for a modern day or future fulfillment of these prophecies is because the prophets used such terms as “In the last days” “final part of the days”, “He will reign…from that time on and forever” in their prophecies (Isaiah, Micah and so on)
Since Captivity and Restoration has been continuously mentioned in the prophetic books of the Bible, some Christian denominations including JW’s look towards its current fulfillment

I wonder why the WBTS decide to revisit these old doctrines. What is the added value of doing this? They run the risk that more JW's get confused and leave. And I do not see how these revised or clarified old doctrines increase the faith of the readers.
The only reason I can think of is that influential people around or closer to the gb members are sometimes raising issues (inconsistencies) with these old doctrines. Why else would they bother? Who in todays congregation is ever interested about what happened then, with Russell and Rutherford.....
Any ideas?
I think is part of their clumsy efforts to slowly transition to a mainstream religion. The new generations reject religion in general, but they reject cults even more. The unprincipled financial leaders of the WT know it and are trying to bring the profits again by creating a more mainstream theology.
