stan livedeath: "it is true i lead a very lonely--isolated life--and this site in many
ways is a social online contact resource. i have no interest in
anything bible-related--in fact i stop reading as soon as any scripture
is quoted."
I am saddened to hear your story of a "lonely--isolated life," and gladdened by the fact you strive to stay social. I myself live an isolated life. It has not been easy.
Stan, I was surprised to read about you having "no interest in
anything bible-related." I have lost quite a bit of interest myself after experimenting all the hypocrisy of religious movements.
I think the Bible is not fully the culprit. We can reach out to the Bible for comfort, and grasp from it whatever we can -- like the positive teachings found within. I wouldn't dwell at the seemingly conflicting stories in it. I think it was Mark Twain who once said (when asked if he was bothered by stuff in the Bible he couldn't understand):
"It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand."
Wishing you well!
