I'm on both sides in this debate:
Gary Lineker broke the T's & C's laid down by the BBC - absolutely, so he deserved discipline/sacking.
However, the BBC T's & C's regarding all employees' personal social media accounts reminds me of the org's desire to control & monitor every aspect of a JW's life, personality, & thinking.
I suggested to someone last night that such overarching control of people's opinions & speech may be subject to legal challenges.
Imagine your own boss telling you that he'll sack you if you ever say anything which praises the Tory Party on your Facebook page!!! Human rights, freedom of thought & speech?
BBC Director-General
Tim Davie has now made a statement about balancing the BBC's
commitments to both impartiality and freedom of expression, and announced an independent review of the social media guidance.
We'll see how this develops.
